How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
DH will probably take 1 week off.

I think he is taking an entire month off. We're very lucky.

My husband works for himself, I asked him to stay away from work for at least a week. He is going to work from home for the first couple of months.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
Almost 2 months... he has a straight month off then the second month he is working a few days here and there. He is also taking another month off in the summer when the baby is a little bigger so we can enjoy it together.

DH might take a week off, but most likely not - he works for himself and I'll have my parents here so it wouldn't be too bad.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
he gets 2 weeks paternity leave from his job and he might take 2 weeks of his vacation with it so he has a whole month off - i am hoping he does the whole month

DH can probably take 2 weeks off but we were maybe going to save that for a little later since my mom is going to stay with us for a few weeks in the beginning while I heal and get back on my feet.
So jealous of all the girls with DHs who are taking a month+ off!

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
My Dh is lucky in that he can go to work for 2 hours and get paid for the entire day. So I think he will take the first 2 days off and then for the next 2 weeks go in for 2 hours a day and then come home. He is planning on taking a week off later in my maternity leave so we can spend time togther with the baby.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
When DS was born DH took off 5 days, then went back to work for 2, and had a long weekend because of 4th of July which gave him another 4 days.
This time, I have no idea. Between having a repeat section, a 2 year old at home, and twins - I think I need him to take off for a year

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
Honestly, I might sound terrible for saying this, but....
Hopefully only 2 weeks! He might stay home 3 weeks? I REALLY missed my "alone" time with the baby with my 2nd son. My DH lost his job the same week he was born so he was home the WHOLE 3 months maternity leave with me. As much as I love him, I hated that he was there the whole time I was off from work. For me, it's just different after my first baby. LOL! With my 1st one he was home for 2 weeks I was only home for 6 weeks. I could have used him home a bit more to help since it was new to me, but after that, I wanted alone time.
Now, I might be regretting saying this after the baby gets here since I already have 2 at home, but we'll see!
He would drive me absolutely insane being home for that long again!

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
DH is a teacher so he wants to take a week and since the baby is due around Easter break he'll have that week off as well. My mom will also take some time off so she'll prob be around when DH goes back to work.

He will definitely take a week but probably work from home and stay connected. Week 2 will depend on how things are going...however he will probably work from home when needed.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
He usually takes a week of in March anyway, so it is just known that he will take his week off when Nugget is born. He will probably take off a second week as well, and in prep for that, he is working extra now whenever he is needed so that he can do it without anyone saying anything to him about it.
It is a small family owned store that he has been at for about 15 or so years and he is like a son to the owner. I'm sure he'll do well by DH. Also, it isn't like DH is ever really truly off, because they have no prob calling him on his days off to ask questions anyway.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
Probably just one week, but he can also work from home if I need him longer. He doesn't get any special paternity leave so it will have to come from his vacation days which kinda stinks.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
Ugh, such a sore subject for me.. NONE. I'll be lucky if he can swing a day off. He works in the hospital so he likely won't take time off when I'm there. I doubt he'll be able to take a day off, but if we are lucky he may have a sympathetic attending who will let him come home early or something.

IDK. I'm not sure how much time DH gets off.
I'm hoping for like a week or so at least. But IDK.

He should be able to swing anywhere from 3-4 wks off. He is getting his vacation picks soon for next year and he will likely take at least 2 out of his 5 vacations back to back. Maybe 3. We're not sure yet.

Is your DH a resident or fellow?
Any attending will let your DH have the day off!
DH is hoping that he can get part of the week off just for delivery and then he'll take the following week off for vacation. We are due at the end of one rotation so he'll be taking one week off for the first rotation and then another week off a few weeks into his next rotation.
DH won't even ask if he has paternity leave! He said even if he has it, he won't use it because it will make him look bad to his colleagues. I really don't get it.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?
DH will only be able to take off a week-he has his own practice (he's a chiropractor)...he works every other day though, so he's home 3 days a week anyway.
