yes. my ped highly recommended it and it was oral (a liquid) so i saw no reason not to give it.

Nope! I was willing to give it but my PED said it wasn't necessary since it wasn't the season for it at his 2 month appt. I have since moved to NC and his new ped wanted to give it to him but at this point I declined.
I am surprised your ped would say this b/c the vaccine would have provided protection for longer than that one season...
Also, to the OP< Rotovirus can only be given up until 3 or 4 mths old (I forget). Then it can no longer be given.

yes! I was not going to but just before DS appointment, his cousin got very sick from rotovirus, I took it as a sign 
ETS DS is not in daycare and neither was his cousin so I don't know where he got it from but he did have to be in the hospital for a couple of days

No, I did not give it to DS.
The older version of this vaccine was recalled and not given for a period of time. What's out there now is fairly new...I just didn't feel comfortable giving it to him.

Apparently, it wasn't available when my first DD was an infant so she never got the vaccine and ended up getting rotovirus. It was a beast of an illness! She ended up i nthe hospital for 3 days....it was very scary! Needless to say, my 2nd DD got the vaccination.

For us, also....I trust our pediatrician and it was recommended for my boys, so we gave it with no question.

My ped doesn't give it. He feels the risk of the vaccine is greater than the disease. In his about 20 years of practice he has never had a child hospitalized from it.

No, it's the only one I skipped.
Us too, my our ped. office didn't even have it. I think there was a temporary recall on it at the time she would have had to have it.

We did because DH treats kids in the ICU who end up catching rotavirus and he didn't want DS to experience what he sees. Our pediatrician didn't give the vaccine out to kids the first time it was marketed, but when it was reintroduced a second time he now gives it because he believes it's safer now. The only side effect DS had was the runs for a few days and then he went back to normal.

DD absolutely received both does. Rotovirus is a horrible disease for a child to have to endure, I would never want to see my DD go through something like that, that I coud have prevented!
