Yes! It's true! My cousin goes to town meetings in riverhead, and he confirmed it!
Walmart has already been started, but the rumor is that it's not going to be a "super" Walmart and it's just going to be food... To compete with supermarkets... Not sure if this is true though...

Well you know the Walmart in centereach with a large food section? It will be like that. No clothes, or anything else. Just a rumor I heard though! My dh is a union worker, and his union is on that job. So that's the rumor going around. Regardless of that though, it's going to be a Walmart :)

Costco too..not sure where in Riverhead but I have a friend that works at a different Costco and he was talking about how they were posting for positions there.

The Walmart is supposed to be Super Walmart right across from Tanger. Costco is going to be further East on 58 and it's supposed to have gas too. There is also going to be a Dicks, Christmas Tree Shop, Aldi, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Joe's Crab Shack is being set up too. Lot's of changes!

Costco is going down the road a bit
Also opening a Christmas Tree Shoppes, Dicks Sporting Goods and Drive-through Starbucks.
Work has started on Joe's Crab Shack and they have the signs up for hiring

Very cool about the Costco. I stop in riverhead often. Isn't there a Walmart in Riverhead already? Next to Kmart? Are they moving. I'm not sure if I'm understanding this post correctly.

A million times yes!!! Lake Grove is such a hike from all points east.
A whole foods would be great too in Riverhead at least. The one in East Hampton was too tiny. The guy who brought WF to the Hamptons died in an accident. Sad story, young guy. They closed Labor Day for the season and are "potentially looking for a permanent home"

There is definitely not going to be a kohls there. I work for the company and there are always rumors of a kohls in riverhead but they are never true. They are renovating the rocky point store starting in a few weeks though. HTH
