Did you bank your child's cord blood ?
I know this is such a big decision while pregnant. Just wondering what everyone ended up doing.
I think I included all options

We wanted to donate, but that was not an option at our hospital!

We wanted to, but DS came 2 months early by emergency C/S so I didn't have a chance to do it.

OK, so we wanted to donate, and I KNOW i told my Dr & L&D nurse. I had an emergency c-section...and I don't know if they did it! How would I find out?

You would know if you did...they make you sign some papers and the next day they came to take blood from me (like a couple of vials) also. They also gave me some information about it.

You would have had to give the Dr. a kit and then you would have had to call the Cord Blood company for a pick-up of the kit...You then get a certificate and a phone call outlining how many cells were collected and ultimately a bill for storage

we did for both. My MW said something that made my decision. "You never want to use car insurance, but you still have it."
When I looked at it as less than our car insurance, it put things into perspective for us.

I didn't bank. I had wanted to donate. I guess they forgot? Hmm, that's rude. I'm going to ask my Doctor about that, becasue they specifically asked me when I checked into L&D. I'm trying to remember if I signed anything??  I know the nurse gave me a bunch of things to sign and we had a long convo about stuff, but I don't remember if the cord blood was mentioned..

No, I think this is if you are privately banking...if you donated they just ask you when you are in labor if you want to (I think you also sign a paper for it) and they take care of the rest(if it is a hospital that participates)...b/c you had an emergency-C I wonder if they were able to collect the blood. The next day someone came to my room and told me they were able to get enough blood from the cord and they had to take blood from me too.
ETA: at the bottom of this website, there is a contact us link...maybe you can ask if they is a way to find out if they banked any of your cord blood.

We did.
DH and I were considering it and actually going to attend a seminar to get more info but I ended up going into labor prematurely. Since we didn't have much time, we ended up deciding to do it.

i did not. i spoke to my OB about it and he said it was a big money making scam. Which isnt what deterred me, i really couldnt afford the cost to prep it and store it for years.
maybe by the time I have # 2 it will be more affordable.

I did not. I was going to donate mine but because of how the delivery went, they were unable to save any of the cord blood.
