Did you do PGD testing?
I had my nursing consult with RMA today and the option of PGD testing came up. Im not sure if its covered by insurance, and if it isnt its $5000 out of pocket. Im not sure if I want to spend that and if its necessary.

I've never heard of PGD being covered. Not sure what your dx is, but depending on that, you may want to opt for it.

diagnosis meaning cause of infertility. I dont have one. my tests all came back normal. nothing abnormal in my uterus, tubes, etc. DH is fine too.
My blood work with markers for SMA and other stuff checked out fine as well.

Re: Did you do PGD testing?
I don't know a ton about PGD but from what I do know in your case, I don't think I would do it yet. It's expensive and I think it can compromise some of your embryos. If you had a different history (recurrent miscarriage, sperm issues or poor embryo quality) I might opt for it.

Re: Did you do PGD testing?
I did it. However, I am a carrier for a specific syndrome. My new RE says that there are many false positives with these tests. Your embryos should make it to day 5 before they test. There are two options PGD and PGS, one looks for certain markers while the other looks for chromosomal abnormalities.
Fm me if you have any questions.

Re: Did you do PGD testing?
We did CGH. Depending on your diagnosis, it MAY be covered. For me it was not. I had my DS from that cycle, though I also lost his twin just shy of 8 weeks. It's not foolproof, but the first transfer I did with genetic testing did work for me. More information can never hurt, as long as you can swing it financially if it isn't covered.

Re: Did you do PGD testing?
I did PGD/CGH however it did not work for me. I did a FET with one normal embryo. I did get pregnant however it ended in a MC.
It helped to rule out the "bad" embryos which had various issues.
FM me if you need more info.

thanks. we decided against it, mainly b/c I dont have 6K to shell out unfortunately.
our blood work came back with no genetic markers for the major things, so I will just hope for the best.

If your blood work came back with no genetic markers for major things, I would opt against it. When I was exploring the idea, my MFM doctor gave me the most helpful advise. PGD is stressful on your embryos. As a result, there is an increased chance of loss with healthy embryos. My MFM really only advises PGD when serious, fatal/chronic illnesses are likely.
