i like the idea of emailing my brother to see what he says.

the girl is armenian and a party always surrounds her. mother, sister, aunts and cousins. so i can't imagine this would be too intimate.

her sister has gone rafting with my parents, and my mother goes there for holidays...she sort of just blends with them.

but i like the idea of asking my brother....i will do that.

I didn't take any family members dress shopping with me, including my own mother - so no. But if your mom is close with the bride or friendly with her family, I see no reason why she couldn't go.

Even though my FMIL loves me to death, I did not invite her when it came to dress shopping. It was more due to the fact that she lived far away from where I was shopping. If it had been closer to her, I would have probably invited her. I just didn't want to inconvenience her and make her feel obligated to travel so far.

When I bought my Chinese wedding dress, my MIL was there to help me design it. She didn't go with me for my traditional wedding dress.

Yes but we are very close and she only has one son, no other children. she also gets along great with my mom. she didn't go to all the salons, but many and i made sure she saw the dress before i bought it.

i recommend you ask your future sister in law what she thinks honestly and if she wants to ask your mom to come she will but do not have your mom ask to go because it may cause her to feel she has to say yes when she really doesnt want to.

I did-she and my mom both came. Had a ball-but I love my MIL.

P.S.-she has terrible taste, so does my mom so I didn't like anything they picked but I had a fun time trying everything on.

I went with my mom (never even invited my BM's and one of them was a little annoyed by this and felt slighted). I invited my MIL to a fitting. She was her usual controlling self and made it all about her

As for getting your brother to ask, that sounds like a good idea. Or if YOU feel close enough to her, maybe you could e-mail her and ask if she might include your mom in one of her dress shopping trips (we all KNOW it might take a few outings).

You are a such a good daughter/sister to be thinking of this kind of thing!

No... but she was in Ny and I was in CA

ETA: My bil is engaged and his fiancee didn't invite his mom to go dress shopping,

I didn't have her come while I was shopping but she did come to my first fitting.

Nope and she was not happy. Just wanted it to be a special day with my mom.

I didn't. Just because I thought she was older and wouldn't care much to go anyway.

Yes my mil has 3 sons so it was a special time for her

No...I wanted the shopping and my fittings to just be with my mom and my sister. That was our special time!

No, I did not. I went with my mother. Then I asked my brother (we are very close) and my father and MOH at a later time. It was a special moment between my mother and I to go dress shopping.

I still don't have that type of relationship with MIL. There is no way.

I took my MIL dress shopping with me after I picked out my dress with my mom. I tried it on for my MIL. I also went with my MIL dress shopping for her dress.

Nope.....my own Mom did not even go with me which is clearly a whole other issue

I DID though ask MIL to go for my 20 week sono when preggo and now wish I had just asked her to see me try on dresses instead
