Disagree with a charge but it has been sent over to collection agency. What to do?
Long story short: there was a bill presented to my husband that we completely disagreed with. We asked for proof of reasons for the charges made (photos.) They said "sure"! We waited and waited and then got a call from collection agency because the charge has been passed over to them!
Does anyone know what I can do at this point? I am going to call the agency of course and fight it tooth and nail but do I really have anything to stand on? What should my course of action be? Any advice would be appreciated!

First off, do some research before speaking with them.
See what kinds of options you have as far as making them prove the debt and producing paperwork.
Unfortunately once it's in collections they can do whatever they want including putting it on your credit.
Sorry about this. If it is a medical collections, tell them to fcuk off. If it goes on your credit you can get it automatically removed. Privacy laws state that you can't have medical collections on your credit report.

If you disagree put it in writing and mail it to them certified return receipt required within 30 days otherwise they have the right to say the debt is valid (for most cases)

Thank you, babymakin! It's not a medical bill, it's a bill from a real estate agency for the apartment he rented over in TX. They said there was excessive wear and tear which is TOTAL BS! Of course, the photos of the aforementioned "excessive wear and tear" never made it to us!

Was it Avalon? Do they have photographic proof or your moveout checklist?

Not avalon. It was over in TX.
No, they don't have the pictures! Well, they said they do and that they will send it but they never ever did! Instead, they just sent the charges to collection. It was some ridiculous charges, things like $32 for 4 alluminutes burner plates, etc...

just pay it. I know the principal of it is what's bugging you but for that amount I would just get rid of it.

You can speak to a debt collector attorney and see if you have a case to sue the debt collector. If the DC violated any FDCPA laws... you are in luck and you can probably get the debt wiped out in a lawsuit.

It's not just $32, that was just part of the charge and an example of how stupid and bogus those charges are. The total is about $250!
