Using a collection agency to collect debt?
I am in the process of trying to find a collection agency to collect debt from my DH's business... Does anyone have any suggestions? And I am also curious as to what percentage they charged you.

you could also do it yourself, filing a claim in small claims court.
you basically argue your case (with proof of bills) in front of a judge. if the defendant shows up, they will send you to a mediator at the court house to come up with some kind of payment solution.
if the defendant no-shows, a judgment is entered against them in the court and the sheriff has the right to go after their assets for payment.

Re: Using a collection agency to collect debt?
We were going to do that but the debt amounts are over the $3000 limit for small claims and we are an Inc. business so its a little different.
eta - and sadly one of the people that owes ALOT is the police chief

Re: Using a collection agency to collect debt?
ugh, I filed against an ex in small claims court and won, like 7 years ago...I hired a company to sieze his assets but so far, no luck
the company charges me 1/3 of what I collect and there is no fee if they do not collect
