Disney World - Recommendations for staying OFF Disney property
Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay OFF Disney property?
I want to figure out what is more cost effective. I can not really justify the prices for a Disney resort when we will not be spending a lot of time in the room.

If you like Springhill Suites, we stayed at the Flamingo Crossing location (opened in last couple of years) last year and the Palm Parkway location (opened in early October) in October. I think the room cost was about the same as a Disney Value resort. Flamingo Crossing was slightly closer to Disney. Palm Parkway was closer to the airport and Universal than Flamingo crossing. I think Palm Parkway has a parking fee, so add that in.
We haven't stayed at Hilton Bonnet Creek in about 4 years, but we liked it there.
We had rental cars for our trips. I would either rent a car or maybe try Uber/Lyft if staying off-site, so that adds to the cost of staying off-site too. And there is a daily parking fee at Disney.

We stayed at the Double Tree Suites by Disney Springs. It’s right down the block and we were able to walk there.

We recently (2 weeks ago) stayed at the Hilton Bonnet Creek. It's very convenient to the parks and has awesome pools. I definitely recommend it. We are staying there again next month.

Orange Lake has everything a Disney resort has. Full kitchens so you can cook. Supermarket right at the one entrance. Multiple pools!!

When I go to to the Disney area for trade shows for my job we stay at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista. You can walk right over the bridge to Disney Sorings and I do believe they have a shuttle service to the parks.

I have stayed off site more than on.
I really loved staying at Universal properties if you will spend any time at Universal. Your room ticket is a free fast pass to the parks! They are much cheaper, much nicer, have great pools and nightlife! The restaurants are real vs the junk at Disney. I stay here when on conference.
I also loved the Ritz which is connected with the W. Marriott. Lazy river, luxury resort with amazing included breakfast buffet at the price of a moderate resort. Depending on season, price isn’t unreasonable. I love the escape from theming and the rooms are amazing. They have a shuttle.
At the lowest end, I stayed at a $70 a night place whose room was better than the moderate Disney places. It had a basic pool with water slide and a free shuttle to the parks (seriously... Kissimmee is full of these places). It’s great if you are in a budget and will eat at the million restaurants that are reasonably priced right outside of the gates.
That said, last time at Disney, I went solo with 3 young kids and I stayed at French Quarter. It was much better than Carribean resort, but the rooms were really cheap looking (however, they were clean). The food options were bad, but the pool was great and transportation was easy. I would stay again if going solo and my kids love the “water park”
Disney should step it up a bit for the $$$ they are charging, but with most people with really young kids paying a serious premium for the convenience, I don’t think they will. They DO now charge for nightly parking (seriously, no other hotels do this if you are staying there... it’s FLORIDA not NYC). Their bus system was decent though. If not using that or traveling with older kids, offsite will DEF get you more bang for your $.

We stay at the Sheraton Vistana Villages. It’s great and has a full kitchen and multiple pools.
Marriott also has a ton of timeshare resorts in the area which are great.
I’ve also stayed at the Ritz and it’s great.

Thanks! I’ve been to Disney 25 times and never stayed at Disney. We stayed at simple hotels, suites, villas and resorts growing up. I think my 4 year old will be content at any place that has a clean pool.

Haven't been in 6 years but back then, we rented a house with a private pool. Really enjoyed the separation.

I have a time share - at summer bay. We love the free transportation to the parks, the ability to make breakfast each morning, do laundry and the extra space we have compared to hotels. The resort also offers a lot of activities and amenities. Let me know if you want to rent it out. and when.

That is what we do because we are barely in the room, we can't justify spending thousands more on a more expensive resort. We like the convenience of Disney transportation plus you are able to get some reservations in a bit earlier by staying on site. We like Pop Century.

We did Hilton Bonnet Creek. It was beautiful, more on par with deluxe on-site hotels, offered transportation to the parks via luxury buses and had a kids eat free promotion for the on-site restaurant.

I was going to suggest the same. We are going for a couple of days in February and I was looking to stay off site, but it made sense to stay on. We're staying at Pop Century, too.

we actually rented a 2 bedroom condo through reunion resorts. It was cheaper than a hotel. We did have to rent a car, but we saved a lot on food, because we had a local supermarket up the road, and we made our own dinner, (lunch...which you can bring food in parks, and breakfast. If you stay at the hotel, you have to buy all meals and that can add up.

I agree and the mere fact that you get dropped off right at the Magic Kingdom rather than the transportation and Ticket Center is priceless. We just stayed at one for our 4 night stay this weekend for the Christmas Party etc. And it was over around $150 with tax. The convenience is worth it though. We spent very little time in our room or even at the resort this time. I paid over $500 A night for the Yacht Club earlier this year. There is something for every budget !

Thanks! I will definitely consider that as well. Right now, I am trying to price out DisneyLand Vs. DisneyWorld.

We stayed at a resort in Celebration. We had 2BR, 2BA full apartment for $79/night. We rented a car and it was about 15 minutes from the apartment to Disney. Even with the additional cost, for the fact that we had so much more in the room - full kitchen, W/D, LR, DR, it was cheaper than staying on property. The resort had a decent pool and a single restaurant. But there were tons of places to get food nearby. I would def consider doing it that way again. It was nice not to always be surrounded by Disney.

Thanks! I will definitely consider that as well. Right now, I am trying to price out DisneyLand Vs. DisneyWorld.
Disneyland tickets are cheap through [email protected] (use an A instead of the @). They are much cheaper than World. Also, airfare might be cheaper depending on when you are going. I looked over Spring Break and it was cheaper to fly to Cali than FL!
