do I have the only 8 month old still without a nap schedule?

I had really hoped by this time, it would have worked itself out. There have been some days recently where she sleeps for like 1+ hours in the afternoon... but every day is a crap shoot.

I thought by now I'd have a routine, be able to plan things, etc. I am losing my mind and with trying to work from home too-- I have ZERO time to myself. I am constantly doing something.

She still has these short naps, and now-- it's harder to get her to go down. I am trying to figure it out, and trying to build a schedule around her 3 meals a day now-- but, I am so at a loss.

Her nighttime sleep is still inconsistent as well.

You are not alone.

I never know what my days or nights will be like. Every time I think we are establishing a pattern, he changes it..and very clingy lately...I think it's the teething.

I feel like I can't get anything done during the day...I'm exhausted lol.

mady willl take 2-3naps and 2 of the 3 are 30 min naps

oy... so is there no end in sight??

I keep waiting for everything to fall into place... but it sucks, I find it so hard to make plans-- I only have like an hour or so window where I can be out-- otherwise I pay for it with a cranky baby.

Oh yeah-- no naps in the stroller or in the car seat. She has to be home.

I'm not familiar with any of your past posts, so forgive me for not knowing. But, do you make attempts to stick to a schedule? For us from the time both of mine were teeny we tried to stick by the "up 2.5 hours, down for a nap" routine outlined in the Healthy Sleep Habits book. Believe me, being a slave to naps SUUUUCKS, but at the alternative is worse in my opinion. Currently, I have 1 who still takes 2 naps, the other 1 so I am housebound from 9-about 3 every day.

Sometimes mine will refuse to nap, but they MUST stay in their room for an hour. After an hour, if their still up, I get them and try again in another hour or so.

By 8 months SOME semblence of a sleep schedule should be formed. Perhaps you should keep a sleep log for a week and see exactly when and how long DD is sleeping. Maybe you're missing a pattern.

I'm no stranger to sleep issues and can attest to how poor sleep patterns can affect a child (as well as Mommy and Daddy. And the dog. And work. ).

Im with you... every day is different. I have noticed that she doesn't seem to get sleepy until 2 1/2 -3 hours now, but the window is short and then she will totally fight me. She will sleep in the car (sometimes, not always), but I feel like it's not the best sleep.

If she desperately needs a nap and she is fighting it I will let her CIO and she usually will fall asleep after 1/2 hour of crying. If she crys longer I go get her and she usually will go to sleep a little earlier that day.

Nights are inconsistent too.. Im still waiting for everything to fall into place. I go back to work FT in a few months, so Im hoping that she will form a schedule at some point.

I find that the sleep books totally stress me out! I always feel like im doing something wrong. Im trying to take more of a zen approach and just let things happen.

A lot of moms tell me that their DC's didn't have a set schedule until 1 yr. and then magically they fell into a nap/night sleep schedule.

Nope, you're not alone. Shane is still inconsistent with naps and still not STTN.

He wakes up still between 5:30 and 6:00 am and goes back down for a nap an hour later, that nap is usually around 40 minutes. Then his second nap is usually a little over an hour, though today, he just woke up from a 2 hour and 15 minute nap, so who knows? Then his 3rd nap sometimes happens, sometimes not and if it does happen it's super short. So...I don't know.

ds is 13 months old and still doesnt have a solid nap schedule

DS was 8 months old yesterday and we have no nap schedule. In fact if he naps more than an hour each day its alot.

I asked the doctor and he will get as much sleep as he needs...great! He is also not always STTN.

My DD has a great nap schedule...at daycare. At home on weekends she definitely gets tired at the same times, so you'd think we'd be able to keep the schedule, but she REFUSES to nap in her crib. It's like she is afraid she is missing fun time with mommy and daddy. Sometimes I can get her to sleep in her newborn to toddler rocker but most of the time, the only reliable way for me to make sure she gets her naps is to have her take them with me. I don't really mind that much because she is warm and snuggly and it's only 2 days a week so it's not TOTALLY a bad habit, but I can see how it would drive me totally up the wall if I were a SAHM. I feel your pain on a smaller scale

My DS is 2.5 and has never had a real nap schedule
