Do you care if people do not like the name you choose???

I have recently started to tell people the name we picked out for our daughter and not everyone is a fan Would this discourage you from using it??? Me and dh love it

Opinions please am I being stupid??

There isn't a name in existence that everyone likes. That's why there are more than one name. If everyone loved "John" and "Mary", that's what all babies would be named. There's a lot of names on the top of the popularity charts that I don't like. However, apparently a lot of other people do. As long as you and DH like it, that's all that matters.

Nope not at all! My SIL does not like our BOY name.....Don't really care though. We Do!

If you and DH love the name, then use it. Everyone else doesn't have to like it.

Our families are so annoying with this that we decided not to share any of our names with anyone until they are born. It's sad that it had to come to that but I just don't want to hear it.

Nope, I didn't care one way or another if poeple didn't like the name we picked.

My father doesn't like the name we've picked - said it doesn't go with our last name.

I can't seem to come up with any other names that I like so he's going to have to learn to like it!

We have decided not to share our names (we are team and only have a boys name at this point - I did tell a couple of people that name but, I knew they wouldn't comment).

There's always going to be someone who doesn't like the name you choose! I don't like some of the names our friends have chosen for their children but, have never dared to say something.

PS - I love the name Lara!

If we were still on the fence about a name, I think some negative comments would possibly deter me. But if DH and I both loved a name, then other people's opinions wouldn't matter at all. My mom didn't love DS's name, but she does now. He's a total Luca!

No. And that's exactly why DH and I are not telling anyone when we finally decide on a name for our baby .

I figure we have enough stuff to deal with and everyone putting their 2 cents in about the name we choose is just one thing we can do without.

nope, my mom told me the name we were going to use for my dd was "stupid"

Nope, I could care less. It is our child & we will name him whatever we want. When we started to tell people that DS would have the same first name as DH but not be a Jr, we got comments like crazy.

Personaly, i do and that is my own fault.
I understand that not everyone will love it but I need a decent amount of people to favor it.

It depends in who it's coming from . If I told 5 people whose opinions I valued, it would bother me, and I would care.

If it was one person who I didn't really care about, I wouldn't even think about it.

People have said things about any name I have mentioned, most, i don't really care about...so now, I just talk to DH about it!

DH and I were stuck between Lauren and Addison for our little . I mentioned it both sides of the family. My side loved Addison adn didn't like Lauren too much and DH's side liked Lauren but not Addison. We ended up with Lauren because it's not as common as Addison is.
Stay with your gut feeling and who care what other people think....it's your baby and whatever name you choose for that baby, it's your choice.

My parents are the only ones who have made negative comments about our girl name choice. I couldn't care less. I love it and DH loves it and that's all that matters.

well, yes and no.

i personally would name my child whatever DH and i want. it's our decision.

however, if i'm getting a majority negative reaction from people, i would reconsider the name. i wouldn't want my DC going through life with people thinking he/she has an ugly/weird/etc name. but that's me

Yes and no. I do not plan on telling anyone in real life (i'll tell the boards!) our names because I don't want opinions beforehand. However, there was a name that both DH and I really liked and never told anyone - but my mom wound up having a kid in her class with that name and has made numerous comments about how much she dislikes the name (this was before I was PG - though she said it again today!). Even though it is not entirely out of the running, it bothers me that my mom hates it.
