I wouldn't care in the sense that it would make me question my choice, but depending on who's opinion it was, it would prob get on my nerves.
We decided from the very beginning though that we weren't going to tell anyone the name we picked out (or any names that we were considering), so we avoided this situation altogether.

I am not discussing my name choices with anyone until the baby is born... My SIL was very opened about her name choices and my MIL would say she hated all of them and comment on why she hated them. I will not make the same mistake as my SIL and so I will not discuss our name choices. They will find out when he/she is born. Then they will have no choice but to love the name and the baby!

It would really bother me if we were set on the name. For both DS and DD we had a hard time with middle names. Since we were on the fence so to speak with middle names and nothing was official I really appreciated the input to the names we floated. Had they disliked the first name choices I would have been upset.
Before the names were selected I appreciated hearing their thoughts but ultimately they knew the names were DH and my decision. As my mom said to me that she and my dad got to choose for her children we should have the final say on ours. Thankfully my in-laws felt the same.

I don't really care if they don't HOWEVER I do find it rude when others make snide comments about what I'm going to name my child....it's not your child it's MINE & DH's.
Some people should learn to smile and nod.

This is why we aren't telling people the names. I know someone will have something to say and I will be upset about it. These are the names that names we like.
People have had opinions about many things that we have done/not done during my pregnancy. People offer their opinions when they are not even asked to and I can't imagine the amount of opinions on the names and I really don't want to hear it,

No, it wouldn't discourage me.
HOWEVER, we have decided not to tell anyone the names we've picked/are choosing between for the simple reason that I don't want to hear other people's opinions on what THEY think of the name we've picked for OUR child.
There is no way you're ever going to please everyone so thats the way we've decided to go.

I sort of cared when I was pregnant with DS but now not at all. When the baby is here, it's just their name. How often do you actually think about someone's name when you meet them? Same thing once the baby is born.
Screw 'em - name the kid what you want. You're the one that's going to have to say it a THOUSAND times a day

That is why we didn't share names. Once the baby is here and had the name nobody will say anything about it - at least not in front of you :)

Me n DH have not told a sold of our "name choices". We have chose 2 for a boy and 2 for a girl, since we are team  . When we see the baby we will decide together. I can careless if no one likes the name!!! but I don't need to hear anyones feedback. Once the baby is here there is not much that can be said.

who cares if they are a fan, its a name u like its ur child
i have an ethnic name that is difficult to say, i used to cut it short for people but one i got into college i got fed up and make people call me the full name. its the name my parents choose and its beautiful
sooo tough luck people learn to call people by thier real names.
go for it if u love the name use it.

The name we chose for our  is ethnic, and my family and our friends are not used to names like this, so even though we have come up with an American nickname, people still feel they can give their opinions and say "well what about .......". We werent gonna tell people for this reason. Since we're team we were gonna keep the names a secret but my mom ended up telling people and down the line it went. Now we feel bad that some people know and some don't so we started to tell people, even to get them used to it and I just cant believe these people think they can try to change our minds or continue to disagree with us as if its everybodys decision. We've stopped telling people and they will meet our or  when they are born. ITA with a pp where she said no one thinks of a persons name after they're born so thats that. 
ETA: I didnt really answer the question lol. Yes I did care bc it was really upsetting that saying these are the names we chose and people make faces and give other options. I was really hurt and took it personally. DH really took it personal bc tradition is you name the first baby after the father's parents. So even after there was a reason for us choosing this name people were still mean and were taking away our happiness about this. I started wishing I was having a boy bc of all this. People are just really so rude. Now, I dont care what people think but I still stopped telling people what we have chosen.

I think with #2 we will keep our ideas to ourselves.
I don't really care if people like the names we choose or not, but it hurt my feelings to hear people make rude comments about the names we were considering for DD.

Nope. I would still use it. I'm sure it might bug me if people didn't like it. On the preggo board someone mentioned how they hate the name Julia and it made me feel a little bad. We are still naming her that though.

If I really loved the name, I would still name my child that name regardless of whether or not people like it. It would however bother me a little if people didnt like it and were very open with their opinions.
For this reason, DH and I are not sharing any names until the baby is born.
