I have hardwood with an area rug in the master bedroom, and carpet in the other bedrooms. I love the hardwood, and when it comes time to redo the other bedrooms, we will refinish the hardwoods in there. I just feel it holds up so much better than the carpet, although in the bedroom I have to have an area rug with it so I am not stepping on the cold floor when I get out of bed.

Carpeting in the bedroom we think it makes our bedroom more cozy! The rest of the house is a mix of uncarpeted or area rugs over the hardwood floors.

We have wood and I feel it definitely helps with the allergies and it's much easier to clean any spills/messes from the dogs.

hardwood and it is SO COLD!!!! The whole room is chilly though. We have an area rug but its only on hubby's side.
The floors are original so I don't want to cover them up but our next place will be carpeted!!

Hardwood throughout the house - with the exception of the kitchen & bathroom (tile) and the basement (low-pile carpet). DH has asthma and aesthetically, I prefer wood.

i am kinda moving towards carpet to go in our new place. i love getting out of bed and stepping on a soft carpet instead of a cold hard floor  i currently have hardwood in my apt and not too crazy about it
pros/cons?

Hardwood with an area rug. I can't imagine going back to a rug. The only rooms in the house that have carpet are DD's room, guest room and the basement.

We put in carpet when we moved in 3 years ago and now that we are redoing our bedrooms down to the studs we have decided to refinish the hardwood floors. I can't wait, haven't decided what size rug to get for each room. OUr main floor has hardwood too that I think the previous owners refinished so that they could sell the house. The only flor that has carpet is our den.
