Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
It doesn't cost anything to shave, paint your own nails, put (even if its cheap) makeup on, dye your hair from the box ($7) and shower. So far, I've managed to do all those things on a routine basis.

Its really bad since I work ft and have to look professional yet I feel like sh#t from no sleep and being overworked and overtired and not losing all of the baby weight. I want a routine where I can workout and take showers when I want to and dye my hair and pamper myself. It doesnt happen anymore. My showers consist of running in for 5 minutes and getting out. I first put on make up at work.
This is me!!!! except I don't even bother with make up at work

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
Well, I've never missed the daily shower, shave... even in those first few days.
Sometimes I wash my hair the night before.
I get up about 5:15, shower, shave, run downstairs have breakfast. They wake at 6 am.
I finish getting dressed/hair/makeup during their first nap.
I was never religious about getting prof. manis/pedis before them... it's not really relaxing to me... so I just do them myself now.
Cut and color religiously (I got it done the day before my induction...lol)... like Barb, I can get the Cruella DeVille look
Going shopping for new clothes on Sunday.
Really want to get JHS to save lots of time.

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
I do everything more quickly now. I know to prioritize and get the most important things done first. No more lounging over a cuppa on the patio while perusing the NYT!
I work from home for myself. I work in the am while DD naps and in the evening when DH is home.
I have a mother's helper twice a week, which is when I do my "me" time -- manis, pedis, and errands that cause a lot of running in and out - dry cleaner, bank, etc. We also go together to the park with DD and puppy.
DD and I go to Gymboree once a week in B'way Mall and I go to Target, Ikea and other stores while we are there, so that saves a lot of time as far as errands go.
DH is always williing to help out - I go to book club, weight watchers, or dinner with friends in the evenings whenever I want.

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
I admit I am jealous to hear of the stories of those showering daily.
I cant yet do it.
To me its second on my list of lots of 1sts.
I need to dye my hair, I need to get a mani/pedi BAD. Even do it msyelf .
I need a LOT of work ...and I feel like I have NO TIME.
BUt I also dont have any household help, no cleaning people, no babysitters, and my husband works 12 hour days so Im on my own with DS a lot.

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
i try to shower before dh leaves for work or else it's just not happening. the day is too hectic. i am home for 10 1/2 hours, alone with the babies. by the time he gets home we eat, chat, do bedtime and i'm pooped.
no mani/pedi or haircut in a long while.
if i ever get a down moment, when they are both sleeping at the same time, i am suppose to be doing homework for grad school, but usually i go online or talk on the phone!!!

it gets easier. I was a dirtbag for awhile my hair always in braids. Then they begin sleeping and being less needy when awake. Sometimes he conks out at 7:30 and I am completely free for the night.
I blow out my hair 2 times a week, other days its curly. I shave every day. I do my own feet(mainly since its so expensive). I need to get my hair done, but that is more of a babysitting conflict.
I always buy the 3 of us clothes. I don't go out on josh spending sprees, the clothes money goes out onto the 3 of us...
I recently added going to the gym 3 times a week, I needed to do something other then the walking to get the rest of the weight off of me.

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
I should add that at times, I'm too lazy to shave, but when I'm taking a shower, I try and take that time to do it as well - my take is - I'm already there... if Cailen is screaming, whats a few more minutes of screaming, and if he's sleeping, then I have the time anyway....
I dye my own hair. I do that when DH is home though...
I can NOT paint my own nails to save my life. It looks like a 5 yr old does it. That being said, a mani/pedi is for biggies - if I have a wedding to go to, I may get one as a gift for my bday in november, and I'll try and get it around the holidays. This past summer I didnt wear sandals or open toe shoes because I couldnt afford pedis, and my toes looked awful... oh well, maybe we'll be in a better place next summer...
I got tired of Cailen screaming when I put on my makeup, so now I sit cross legged on my bedroom floor in front of a full length mirror with him on my lap. For some reason, it makes him very, very mellow and calm watching me put on my makeup. He sits there and watches carefully. Its so cute, and its a nice bonding experience....

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
I wanted to add that I find it harder with having 2 under 2. When it was 1 it was so much eaiser. to those with twins. I do give myself manicures and pedicures on a weekly basis. I don't color my hair yet but when the time comes I will probably do it myself.
Yesterday I told DH on the phone that when he gets home I am gonna go out for an hour by myself and he was . He is very nervous to stay home with the two of them by himself while they are both up. DD doesn't really like to be held by him unless he is walking around and signing to her. It's actually funny, the minute he takes her she starts to cry. So since she was whiny last night I said I would take her beceause she is good when we go out. And I tried to by myself clothes but I am having a hard time finding a style still and since my body changed a little I really have to pay attention to the way things fit. Before I knew to stay away from bias cut skirts and that was it. I just had to try it on for size. Does anyone want to come to NJ and help me shop

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
It's hard. I'm able to do it on the days that I'm working (3 days a week) but I have to have everything laid out the night before, to save time. On the days that I'm home with her, I try and look decent - but my hair is usually pulled back in a ponytail and I have very little makeup on.

Re: Do you have hard time taking care of yourself?
YES!!!! I totally feel the same way. I said to my friend today that with my first son, I had some "change of lifestyle" ppd, sad about losing my lifestyle. This time around, I feel kind of trapped. I am not depressed, but I feel like I can never get a break. Even when dh is home, I am CONSTANTLY worrying...when to feed #2, what time to nap older child, etc. I have been showering at night this entire week because i cannot find the time within the day...I guess I can't complain- its a shower right??
ETA = My son is just over 6 weeks old, I have blow dried my hair TWICE!
