yup. I found out a few hours after I delivered because I needed to get the rhogam shot depending on what DD's blood type was.

Yes -- I made a point of asking at the hospital. I also made a point of having DH have his blood taken before i got preg so I would know his bc I am RH negative, and I needed to know if I needed the shot. I did, as both he and DD are positive.

My ped told me that if the mother is RH-then they test the baby at birth....If mom isnt RH- and there arent issues then blood type isnt documented.
Im wondering if, those of us who know, are RH-?
Im RH- and all my kids are 0+...

Yes. Because when we were in the hospital I asked. The nurse said "They only test their blood if the mother is "O positive or negative".
I am O negative. So they did test Ryan, who has the same blood type as me.
Not sure why O +/- makes a difference though.

I just mentioned in my post that they told me they only test the baby if the mother is O +/-

Yes. I want to say they were both typed in the hospital as newborns .. but it may have been the first time they had blood drawn. Either way, I know I asked and I was told.

Yes, at her birth - she is the same as me (which I can never remember but I haev my card from donating blood in my wallet so I can always check! LOL!)

Nope... we actually asked in the hospital when I gave birth if they could tell us and they said they don't even know. I was surprised, but they don't test for it.
they do not always test for it, only if the mother is rh negative or if the mother is type O... really only if there is any chance that the baby could have hemolyic disease of the newborn.... which rh negative mothers and type O mothers have the issue of antibodies crossing the placenta
there really is no major need to honestly know what anyones blood type is because there is not one hospital that will give blood based on word of mouth and they always have to do full testing everytime you are admitted

I asked the nurse when Abby was in the NICU. I'm chuckling because my mother, my she rest in peace, always said that people should have their blood type tattooed on the bottom of one of their feet. Coming from an old Jewish woman, I found it hysterical.

Yep. DS has the same blookd type as me and I found out when I was in the hospital after he was born. I needed the RoGam shot when I was pregnant b/c Im O negative. DS didn't.
