No-1st because I don't want my kids to know that is even an option. I want them to think that they can only go out in the stroller. At this age-I cannot have them both loose and unrestrained. They think its funny when I say no and don't understand danger so I could never. Totally not safe IMO. That is much more a concern to me than germs

We're not at that stage yet, but I don't think I could ever let her crawl in a public place. Just the thought of it... I don't even like touching the shopping carts  !

Same here!
I'll ususally bring something to distract her in case of a freak out... (i.e., her sippy, or a snack) that usually buys me just enough time to do what I need to do and get out.

Okay I'm a total germaphobe but no definitely not a place like a store but I have let my DD cruise and crawl at once upon a treetop in the play area and at the playground near the baby climbing structure on mats. I make sure she doesn't touch her face or eyes and I wipe/clean her hands immediately when I picked her up. But aside from those places no.

I almost had no choice. I guess I always have a choice but I was alone and DS was screaming to get out of his stroller and he was screaming to get down when I was holding him in my arms. He was very happy once he was on the floor.
No way would I ever let DS crawl on a public floor. It totally skeeves me. But I totally understand the situation, and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Just clean him really good!
