Do you let your toddler
roam around the house when you take a shower? DS is almost 21 months he gets out of the crib...out of the PNP to get him into the highchair is beyond a nightmare...I know you are probably thinking i have no control over him..it is just Im afraid to have him climb out and get hurt .. what do you do?

No way, nothing in our house is babyproofed. I shower when he is sleeping (either before he wakes up or during his nap).

Re: Do you let your toddler
Yes, I do. But she's a mellow girl who I know is generally not climbing/jumping while I'm in there.
Can you close him in a particular room while you're showering? A safe room, obviously?

Lock him in the bathroom with you or shower before he gets up.

Re: Do you let your toddler
Yes. I have no choice. She's 22 months and doesn't even take naps anymore so I can't do it when she sleeps. I usually put the tv on and leave the bathroom door open. Most of the time she hangs out in the bathroom and goes through the drawers or watches tv. DD is a climber too and gets into everything. If I don't hear her I usually will call for her and she hopefully will come. If not, I do get out to look for her to make sure she's ok. I haven't had a nice , long shower in I don't know how long . But I showered and I guess that's what counts.

He just opens the door.
And who the hell knows when he is waking?!?!?
I have done it a few times, when I am desperate to shower before work. (Some days DH walks in the door from work, I kiss him and walk out the door to go to work. My co-workers appreciate the shower.

Re: Do you let your toddler
Absolutely not. He would destroy the house and it is WAY not childproofed enough that I would be comfortable leaving him alone for more than 2 minutes.

Re: Do you let your toddler
I don't but DH has to some mornings. He showers in the downstairs bathroom with the door open not far from the living room while DS watches TV (he's the kind of kid who will sit and watch an entire episode of Sesame Street though.)

Re: Do you let your toddler
If I do not get to the shower before DS is up for the morning. I can usually give him mil and cereal, and set him up in his chair to watch sesame street. I leave the bathroom door open so I can check on him ( I can see him from teh shower), and he comes in if he needs me

I have an 18 month old and there is no way I can leave her anywhere for more than 30 seconds. My home is not child proofed enough and she get into EVERYTHING.

Yes, I do. We are baby proofed and I close all the doors to all the room except the living room and his bedroom and then I take a super speedy shower. I usually put on the Cars movie, or something that I know will hold his attention for 5 minutes while I jump in and out.

Re: Do you let your toddler
yes I do, i close the baby gate at the top of the stairs and she can go where she wants. generally speaking she just stands in the bathroom and talks to me the whole time, i have no other choice its either that or dont shower.

Yep.
Mostly he showers with me, but if he doesn't, I just leave the door cracked and he comes and goes as he pleases

Re: Do you let your toddler
Well, not roam the house exactly, but i have left him alone. Generally, I shower when DH is home in the morning, but if I miss that timeframe, then he either stays in his room and plays there, or he is in the living room mesmerized before Yo Gabba Gabba. Our house is childproofed, or reasonably so. I'm not entirely comfortable with this, but he's too big for the Pack n Play at this point, and the crib doesn't seem safe to me either.
He's 25 months, and I really just started doing this about 2 months ago. Before that, he did sit int he pack n play.

Same here. I make sure to save something from DVR like Yo Gabba Gabba or a Disney Pixar movie so I know she won't budge away from the TV

Re: Do you let your toddler
hrm my answer is not the norm i think.
I dont do morning showers. I just dont like them. They mess up my hair and its cold and I just feel so 'out of it' when I take morning showers. Its like I added an hour to my day and it feels like a longer day.
So I take evening showers. My hubby is home and I hop in. She roams as she sees fit but not unsupervised.
However, she has free reign in the mornings if we're still asleep, usually if we're lightly sleeping and we can hear her its ok. When she's quiet we freak out. so that means this usually lasts about 5mins.

Re: Do you let your toddler
With DD I did. She was good. Never got into anything and never had the inclination too. Usually she would just hang out in my room anyway but if she didn't she would go in her room or go downstairs and play with her toys. DS is a whole other story. I don't see that happening. He gets into everything. The other day I was showering and he was literally in my bathroom cabinet. I don't think he'll be able to be unsupervised for a long time. I think as a mom you know best. You know your kid and what they will get into.
