Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
We are at the moment as I am in college full time & will be for the next 2 years. We are keeping fingers crossed that DH doesnt get laid off next week. We have savings but trying not to touch it.

after tomorrow - NO
it's been a long 3 months- but it was worth it- I became a Full time realtor on 12/2 and closed on my first house on 3/2
and tomorrow I get my check
and I will have another closing in the next couple of weeks that is a really nice check
I wasn't sure I was going to make it- I had to borrow from the bank of DAD but I love my new job and my hard work is paying off!
Yay! Party!

No way, but we certainly live well below our means so technically, we act as though we are living paycheck to paycheck. We don't carelessly spend money at all.

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
No. I have CC debt though that I make payments on but no where near what I should be. I'm still adjusting to being one income even a year and a half after separating from my Ex. It's really hard paying rent and bills on one salary when his was 3x's what I make. Once my Bf gets a more stable job, we'll move in together and the load will be lightened a bit and I can make larger CC payments. Thank goodness I am getting back a good amount from my tax return this year

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
No. We live off DH paycheck and bank mine. We have been doing this since we got married. I was not as fortunate growing up with a single mom and a deadbeat dad, money was alway tight. Although, we are "comfortable" now, because of my childhood, I am constantly in a state of fear over finances, and I take nothing for granted.

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
To me, living paycheck to paycheck means that you are able to pay your bills but not put any into savings.
That's where we are right now bc DH is out of work.

Also, thanks to our two new exemptions and our wonderful accountant we will be able to start to replenish our savings with our tax refund.

we do not. we are blessed with great jobs and have been able to save
we SHOULD tighten up a little bit though, with a baby on the way and put more away for a rainy day
lots of for all those struggling to make ends meet. i hope there is an end in sight!

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
We don't right now thanks to both of us being pretty good savers BUT we just had a baby & I may not be returning to work. If that is the case, then yes, we will live paycheck to paycheck & not touch our savings. We'll pretend like we do not have the savings.

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
This may sound stupid but what is paycheck to paycheck? We have enough money to pay our bills and save a little but still cannot do what I want (my student loans are in deferrment, did not start college savings for 2 kids yet, no real vacations). I am frugal and cut out spending a lot but not perfect.

We do not. We are cheap and hence we save a lot of cash that way!
same here. DH and I get excited to put money into savings versus going out and spending... opposite of what most people do but we are just weird

I'm not really sure either...
1. you NEED each paycheck in order to stay afloat and will really struggle if your check was late even a day?
2. you need each paycheck to pay all of your bills without touching savings (but you may have substantial savings/investments)

That's what I was thinking, I try to budget and we do pay bills once a week after we get paid, however the $ doesn't run out, we always have a little cushion in checking and if I needed to run to the grocery store or buy something extra I'd be okay.

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
Wow.
Well, we do. And honestly, I don't really know why it is so bad? We pay all of our bills and our rent and we have food on the table and clothes on our backs. We definitely have been MORE comfortable, but tis life right now...
DH has a pension, but we are not saving beyond that right now and I'm not sure why it is perceived so poorly? Would I like to be able to save more, OF COURSE. But yeah, on weeks when my unemployment goes in on a Thursday v. a Wednesday it does hurt...but honestly, the world can change in a heartbeat and even those who are the most financially stable can be rocked...
But its fine with me. I love my family and I wouldn't change this for the world.

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
yea we pretty much live paycheck to paycheck. We racked up some more CC debt when DH was out of work last year for 6 months and I'm still trying to catch up. We put very little/almost nothing into savings each month. I try to send a little extra to one of our CCs so that eventually we will pay them off, but basically we don't have too much money after paying bills/rent/buying necessities.

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
No, but we definetely are not saving as much as we would like...some paychecks we dont get to put anything away, especially when things come up like a party, wedding, etc.

same here. It's worse now that I'm out of work becasue my OB pulled me out with about 7 weeks to go. But, we are using our tax return money to cover our expenses rather then put it in savings or try to pay down some of our debt.
I'd rather have those bills covered for a few months, then build up our savings once I go back to work.

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
Wow, I'm surprised at how many people said no. I said yes right now because of the economy. With DH being out of work we have had to rely heavily on savings and my check to cover our overhead. It sucks, and I'm bitter about the whole economic status of our country!

Re: Do you live paycheck to paycheck?
For the first 4 years of our marriage, DH and I did. We've finally got things in order. We still have bills to pay, but at least we're not struggling any more.
ETA: Of course, I'm sure that will change when we get our own house (we rent now)
