i always do...my parents only lock there door when they are asleep otherwise it is open but my grandma lives downstairs and is usually home

I replied "always" only because my husband is ANAL about having the door locked...even when we are home.....
However, when i was growing up, we would only really lock our door if we went on vacation....for 2 years after I graduated from college but moved back home, I didn't even have a key to the house but it didn't matter b/c we never locked the door...
sounds crazy...but we just never really felt the need to.
The best part is, my dad owned his own alarm company, so we had this really fancy alarm with motion sensors in each room, etc and didn't even use it!

We always lock our door; however, growing up in Queens (Auburndale), my parents NEVER locked the door unless we were going someplace for the day. If they were running to the store or we were in the house, it was never locked (except at night). SO CRAZY looking back.
I remember my friends having keys to their front door in 5th/6th grade & they asked where mine was & I said I didn't need it  We also lived right across from the school/park (pretty pretty crazy!) Thankfully we never had any problem.

Yup! Fort Knox- deadbolt. When DH and I get a house we will get an alarm too. Too many crazies out there.

i rarely lock the door unless im sleeping, but dh locks the door all the time! there are always people coming in and out of the apt, so i dont lock it often and i feel safe. nothing to worry about it

locked and alarmed... we also have locks on all our gates... which pisses off the slomans guys everytime they come...
but i have to say when walking my dog especially in the spring/summer i see many houses with only the screen door closed...
i would NEVER do that... i don't even like putting the screen in the door...
my neighbor says i'm like that because i'm from queens... i just think she's asking for trouble...

I live on the 29th floor, have a doorman and both lock and deadbolt the door with I'm home...mind you my door locks automatically!

Yes. Right after I say hello to the man with the shotgun in my house & give the "not to attack" command to my pitbull.

FYI... when my door is open my dog that looks like a pitt is usually sitting at the door staring at people when they go by!
