Re: Do you plan to pump milk after you go back to work?
Just make sure you practice that at home with your BF-ing schedule so your milk dries up during the day. My friend was BF-ing on demand for her and then went back to work and she had BAD engorgement and leakage.
HTH!!

Re: Do you plan to pump milk after you go back to work?
I pumped at work for my first when I returned to work when my son was 3 months old. I pumped until my son turned 1 years old! They actually gave me an empty room and added a lock for me. It was too close to a busy conference room and I was uncomfortable. I actually used an executive phone booth on the executive floor. It was quiet and it locked.
I plan on doing the same when I go back work this time also. I work at a different firm. I work overnight with only one other employee here for 2 hours. I am by myself for 3 hours. I can literally pump every 2 hours if I want! I am very lucky this time! I am just going to close the darkening shades and hopefully will be able to pump often.

That's a long time to go without expressing milk. Unfortunately, your body will not produce much if you don't keep on top of it.

Re: Do you plan to pump milk after you go back to work?
With DS I pumped once a day at lunchtime and I always had enough milk. I pumped in my classroom but I know many employers will make acommodations if you need them.

Thats not necessarily true, I only pumped for 8 months and my schedule was 8 am (20 oz), 6 (20 oz) pm and 11 pm (11 oz). My son had nothing but pumped BM for that time. You can adjust your body to do that, but it takes time.

That is an AWESOME supply. I don't think it's the norm to get 50+oz a day and would agree, for some, it's challenging to maintain a supply without expressing during the day.

It was awesome, I had a HUGE stash in my freezer, that was rancid due to that odd lipase, and no its not necessarily normal. But at 8 months keeping to a strict pumping schedule, my supply very quickly dried up. I am a good milk supplier, if only my son was able to actually latch on!!! I told my midwife this week that if this baby didn't latch on please to not support me in choosing to pump, to please support me in formula feeding.

Re: Do you plan to pump milk after you go back to work?
I share an office with 4 other women and finding a place to pump was a bit of a challenge at first. One of the ladies (who didn't have a child) highly suggested that I use a bathroom stall. I didn't like that idea at all and ended up using the administrative assistant's private office when she went out to lunch. She didn't mind and it worked out really well. My supply did drop though because I was used to pumping more than once in the middle of the day, but at work I could only do it during lunch.

Also, if you go straight from feeding on demand to that schedule, you'd probably be very engorged and in a lot of pain.
