nope. havent seen the documentary but i went in there once to get a futon and the place was all messy and the employees were quite rude and i just didnt like it at all so we dont shop there anymore. i'd rather spend a few more cents and go to Target (which i love).
alot of people have commented on how the employees are treated so that just makes me feel better about NOT wanting to shop there.

Walmart stores are so messy and gross. The one in East Meadow always has a weird smell. I used to shop at a Walmart in GA because there was nothing else in town and I always hated going there. Also in GA it is considered the "hotspot" on friday nights, all the locals hang out in the store. It was just weird.

I have just recently discovered WalMart when we spend the summer in Poconos. I went in there in July of this year for the first time in my life and it was love at first site! Their prices are great, the store is beautiful and they have a wonderful selection of organic produce and groceries and they breads are wonderful.
I did hear of some controversies connected to their name but honestly, this store is good to my pocket and so I am will remain a customer.
I am sure Wal Marts in NY aren't nearly as nice as the ones in PA though, just like everything else. The people who work there are all super nice and the store is very clean and beautiful.

I don't. Not b/c of what kind of company it is.......but I've gone in one twice, and never found anything and was quite turned off.
The place was a mess. Unless it was the one I went into but it was pretty new at the time........

I always did, but to be honest I stayed away from Target because they wouldnt allow the veteran associations to stand outside and raise $$. Target claimed they dont allow anyone to stand in front of their stores to collect money. I know I've seen other organizations and since my dh is a veteran the only other place is Kmart and I am really not a fan of them. So, I am left to shop whichever has the most sales since each one of them has issues.

I ask because DH and I watched this documentary about Wal Mart a few weeks ago and I have to say after watching it I will NEVER step foot in another store again. I t was just amazing that a multi billion dollar company treats their employees like such crap.
this is why i don't shop there..... most chain stores are bad, but they seem to be the worst in terms of that... the reason why their prices are so low is because they use child labor, foreign products and treat their employees like crap.
although many other companies do it too, everyone KNOWS and has concrete proof that Wal-mart does it, so that is why i do not go there.

No I don't, but not for political reasons- I just hate being in there. I always become irate. And it's messy looking.
I prefer target- things may be a few cents more, but it's amore pleasant experience.

We used to all the time.
It was convenient.
When we moved, we became huge Target fans and still are.
I admit, we were in Walmart the other day and I think we bought something (LOL), but, Target is so much better.

I've never seen the documentary and I all I know is that I've heard bad things about their HR practices but I don't really know. So that's not why I don't shop there.
I think I've been in a Wal-Mart a total of 3 times in my life. Every store I've ever been to (except for 1 down South) is filthy and messy. That's enough for me to stay away.

I used to because it was right around teh block from me. I moved and it is no longer close so not as much. Their prices are amazing though-pregnancy tests there are $5 cheaper than anywhere else! As well as other products

I don't shop there unless I absolutely have to, but it's for personal reasons rather than ethical ones  Had a bad experience many years ago with a guy who worked at one, and vowed to never set foot in a WalMart again!
Knowing that they mistreat employees and take business away from mom & pop shops makes me feel even better about my decision.

While I won't kid myself about the ethics of any retail chain (all discount shops and many more $$$ dept stores treat their poor employees like cr@p), I agree malwart does hit the bottom of the list....
out of desperation to find an electric blanket during the late summer, I entered a malwart once... no employees around, and it looked like a typhoon hit.... it looked like a trashed version of Kmart. No way am I going to wade through the waste and try to try to find what I need. Never again.
Target is not only organized and similarly priced, it also has some pretty stylish home stuff and clothing.
no comparison!

No, but aside for that, I think the company should be ashamed of it's practices towards smaller towns and Mom& Pop shops. That is the reason I don't shop at Wal Mart and this is prior to the documentary.
I don't shop at Wal-Mart for both of these reasons. To me, it's worth it to pay a little bit more to shop at a store where the employees are treated decently and to not push smaller local stores out of business.

you know walgreens is acting like a malwart, and is trying to crush CVS, right?
I refuse to shop at walgreens... they purposely put a shop right next to every CVS and are actively try to bankrupt them so they become NY's mega pharmacy

I've never shopped at Wal Mart. I grew up in the land of Target and that has always been my preference.
I refuse to shop at Wal Mart now because of how awful they are to their employees. I've seen it firsthand b/c two of my sisters worked there after Walmart went up next to our beloved Target.
Regarding the bell-ringers at Target; so many charities want to stand in front of Target stores that they had to say "no" to all of them instead of favoring one. If people want to donate, they can choose their own charity and donate that way.
