I was a big yeller, now I am trying to not yell. I still at times, but once I stopped yelling and they stopped yelling at me i realized that talking just worked better. I also realized that I was having a adult temper tantrum and teaching them that yelling was ok, even though they would get in trouble for yelling, LOL. Talk about sending them mixed messages.

I stopped yelling when I started therapy and started on meds, it was easier to control myself after the meds kicked in. I got so mad at everything before that I could not control the yelling.

Good Luck, it is hard work, but so worth it in the end.

DD is 10 months and into EVERYTHING! She's so strong willed and "spirited" - to put it nicely Chat Icon and she has her father's stubborn temperment

There are a few situations that drive me NUTS with her. Ex: diaper changes and after baths. She refuses to sit still. Just the other day she smeared poop on the carpet because she squirmed SOOO hard to get away while I was changing her. I wanted to beat her. OBV I didnt. It's just so unbelieveable frustrating. I basically have to half sit on her to get her ready for bed after a bath. I yell for her to sit still, to stop trying to get up and crawl away because I don't know what else to do anymore. To make things worse -- she listens to DH when he says NO! She could care less when I say it. I've been trying to realize going into these types of situations that I just have to take my time with her, be patient, and make sure she knows she has to sit still w/o yelling. It's tough but I find that since I've become aware of the trigger situations that Im more prepared to deal with them.

and to think -- she's only 10 months Chat Icon

can't wait until she's 2 Chat Icon

Does anyone read Ask Moxie? It's a great blog/advice column (a little granola though). I know that the author was written about yelling and even offered an online "class" classed Release the Yelling or something like that and if I recall, it was really inexpensive, like $20 or so.

Anyway, I've found her prespective and advice for other issues very helpful so maybe worth checking out?
