Re: dogs in baby strollers?

Actually, some places do allow larger dogs in. For example, Bloomingdales has no restriction on how big a dog you can bring in. Also, some people carry their small dogs in stores because they aren't allowed to walk on the floor. Many businesses have that policy. A small dog can be brought in but only if he's carried.

I'm probably going to start something by saying this but dogs are NOT supposed to be in stores unless they are service dogs. Chat Icon

I'm a HUGE dog lover but why is it ok for someone with a small dog to break the rules. I'll bet you anything that if I brought my 80 lb. Lab in there I'd be kicked out right away.

LEAVE YOUR DOG AT HOME! Chat Icon

ITA and not for nothing but bringing a dog into Babies R Us where there are children and little babies -I would be pizzed. In fact, I would probably say something to the management. Don't get me wrong I am a HUGE dog lover, but I love my child more and a dog is NOT A CHILD. They do not belong in certain places. It is irresponsible of stores to allow this to happen.

Walking down the street is another thing. Yes I totally Chat Icon when I see a dog in a stroller or carried like a baby, but it is cute I must say.

No excuse for this dog to be in a store- - let alone a special dog stroller. The owner is a WEIRDO as far as I'm concerned.

As a dog lover and dog owner, I think its bizarre. If your dog is older and/or has a medical condition and can't walk, ok I get it. Maybe you want to go on walks with dog around the neighborhood - fine, put the dog in a stroller if you must. I don't see the need to bring the dog to a store in most cases though.

If the dog does not have any kind of condition or isn't old, why not just walk the dog? Exercise is good for them. They need, want and enjoy exercise. Either way, it doesn't really concern me too much (unless you have the dog in a place where dogs are not/should not be allowed).

Re: dogs in baby strollers?

i think my cats are my kids and i do love them but i would never put them in a stroller. i don't think animals belong in stores. i don't even care to see people with their little ankle biters in petsmart.

Re: dogs in baby strollers?

I find it a little bit cute, but sort of creepy-cute. Like it takes the whole "my dog is my baby" metaphor a leeeeeetle too far.

I have seen a few dogs in Baby Bjorns which IMO was not as cute and a little more creepy. Why not just give the dog a rattle and little crocheted booties too?

I understand some dogs have mobility issues and can't walk well, but I'm talking about situations and places where the dog shouldn't even be there in the first place, regardless of walking/stroller/Bjorn/whatever.

Re: dogs in baby strollers?

I've seen it before & thought it was funny, but don't care either way. I was more bothered because like a PP I have severe dog & cat allergies and this person brought their dog into my job (a public facility) even though they weren't supposed to and they were in my vicinity long enough to trigger an allergy attack. I was trying to be nice/patient & not say anything to get them thrown out, but in the end I suffered w/my allergies & an asthma attack for the next hour. I was PO'd & will most certainly complain in the future.

Totally ridiculous. They are dogs, not humans. People and the "furbabies" are out of control. I think the whole thing is nuts. Chat Icon

I'm not a fan and feel it's abused by some folks with smaller dogs. Leave the dog home. And I'm a dog lover with two of my own.

Re: dogs in baby strollers?

I think dogs should be left at home, but if you are going to bring them into a store, I would much rather they be in a dog stroller than a shopping cart. Chat Icon

I think it's a great way to sneak a dog into a store where it doesn't belong!
Just throw a receiving blanket on it and you are good to go!

Personally, it has legs. It can walk! In a few years, we'll be hearing how the obesity rate of dogs has increased 45% since 2000. I love dogs...but really?

this has already happened.

a dog does NOT need a stroller unless it's medically necessary.

neither does a 7-year-old, but that is another topic. Chat Icon

Re: dogs in baby strollers?

My dog has an autoimmune disease that effects his brain. When his symptoms first started he could barely walkChat Icon When I was taking him to tons of vets (in Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc) I would have loved to have a stroller b/c I had to carry him everywhere (far b/c of the parking situation) and he was like dead weight. It was uncomfortable for me and him. I would not take him into a store but after experiencing what I did I'm not judging people who carry their dogs in strollers b/c you just never know what could be wrong with the dog. Rocky while laying down looked normal. Only when he would try to get up and walk is when you would notice a problem.

Re: dogs in baby strollers?

I've seen this before too, mostly in the city and mostly being pushed by crazy old ladies Chat Icon

IMO, a dog is meant to run around on its own 4 legs, not be pushed in a stroller or carried in a bag.
A dog is not a doll, nor a toy and should not be treated as such

if the dog is handicapped or cannot walk for some reason, then i guess thats the only way i could see it, but it still looks weird!
