Dry Scalp in Toddler - Help!

I thought my son had frosting or glue in his hair last night, but when I went to pull it out, clumps of hair were failling out with it, all the way down from the root! I looked at his scalp and he has red patches of skin on his scalp - looks like psoriasis or eczema? He has eczema on his skin, but I've never seen this before and it's worrying me that his hair is falling out. I also worry that he caught some kind of fungus at the hairdresser? The doctor is closed and I'm hoping someone here has had a similar experience and can help calm my nerves. It looks like cradle cap, but he's 2 1/2! ETA: It's not all over his scalp, just a small area.

Re: Dry Scalp in Toddler - Help!

my DS is 18 months and a month ago i saw that he had dry scalp (not as bad as you described though above-hair wasn't falling out, just had some dry patches on his scalp), i spoke with his pediatrician who said that johnson and jonson is very drying (i was using that) and to use dove soap instead and then once a week a dandruff shampoo (sebulex). He also said to put baby oil on it (i use olive oil-found it works better) for 5 min, and pick the dry pieces off and then wash his hair. It def has helped and so far his scalp is looking almost back to normal.Chat Icon good luck!

I use Johnson's too. I wonder if that's it. I'm going to take him to the doctor just to make sure. What's unnerving is that little clumps of his hair fell out from the root.
