Ear infection/ear tube surgery questions.

So DD is scheduled for tubes on Friday and the doctor said if she has a fever or infection tomorrow or Friday, the surgery will be canceled. Of course, today she started sneezing and having a runny nose, so I know it's only a matter of time before the infection occurs.

My question is, how long after cold symptoms does an infection usually occur? Do you think there's a chance we can make it until Friday morning? Did anyone's surgery get canceled for this reason?

if it just stays a cold and runny nose then they will do the surgery. DD had a cold when she had her tubes done. Just no fever or anything can be present.

What if there is infection but no fever? I am just trying to be realistic because EVERY cold has led to infection thus far (7 in a row).

they won't do it if there's an infection because where they have to insert the tube is swollen/inflamed with an infection.

My ent and ped agreed to put her on antibiotcs as soon as cold symptoms started so we wouldnt get an infection before surgery now that i think of it... can you call and ask if this is an option?

No fever that DAY but the night before she had a fever that went away with motrin

She had a RAGING ear infection WHILE she got her tubes put in. Made recovery more difficult as she as uncomfortable and fighting an infection.

here's where I posted about the exact same thing. linky
