Re: Electric vs. gas dryer

our gas dryer dries a load in less time at a lower temp so I would guess a gas one is more efficient

Gas dryers are about 15% cheaper to run than electric, which comes out to a savings of about 6¢ per load at typical rates.

If you don't already have gas lines set up for a dryer, the savings would be eaten by having someone run gas lines to the dryer.

I believe gas dryers are much more efficient. Ours works great. When we moved in, it was electric, but we switched it to gas.

That's a good point. In my situation, I have a gas dryer sitting at my parents house that I used in an old house for about a year.. it was hardly used. Now in our new house, it has an electric dryer and my dad said he would pay to have the gas connected just so that I get the dryer out of his basement!!! Maybe I should take him up on his offer!
