Exhausted after Daycare!!! WWYD?

DS was exhausted yesterday. Came home and fell asleep after eating at 5:30..woke a little to eat again at 7:00 but fell right to sleep while drinking it. Put him in his crib after that and went right to bed KNOWING..he woudln't sleep unitl 5:00.

DS woke at 2:00 for a bottle. he had been aslepp for 8 1/2 hours.

DS has been STTN but sometimes b/c he doesn't sleep enough at daycare this happens!!!

He takes about 3, 1/2 naps at daycare.

Would you ask daycare to see if they can nap him longer or an additional nap?
See if they can put him back down after he wakes after 1/2 hour?
When he is home he can nap 2 hours!!

i'd like to know too. DS doenst nap well to begin with. and yesterday he was dead tired. fell asleep by 7; we had to wake him after 9 to feed him and change him; yet he was restless through the nite...tossed/turned, got up a few times.

the nite before..slept like a rock from before 9pm through 5:15.

does ur DS like to be swaddled? I find if I (and they) wrap a blanket around him he sleeps longer. you can ask them to do that. where does he nap? if DS naps in the swing its a lot longer than the crib. see if they can put him in the swing.

He hates being swaddles.. i wrap him in a blanket at night..not swaddled though and he always kicks himself free. He's great in a crib so that's not the issue... and they aren't 'allowed" to keep a child in a swing (dangling feet) for more than 15 mins. bad for their legs and circulation.

But would you aks the daycare to try and get him back to sleep??

i would definitely ask, but if your DS wakes up, most likely he's up. does he take a pacifier? whenever i want DS to go back to sleep i give him the pacifier and he'll go back down.

bumping..to show the question again.

Would you ask daycare to see if they can nap him longer or an additional nap?

When he is home he can nap 2 hours!!
How would you handle this?
TIA

Re: Exhausted after Daycare!!! WWYD?

Linda- I actually just had this convo with daycare yesterday, she actually suggested it and did it at one of his later naps in the afternoon (of course he had to be woken from it b/c I was picking him up but he fell asleep at 330-410, woke up she rocked him and he went back down from 420-until 5 when I had to wake him)

He too was exhausted last night and went to bed at 630 but slept through until 630 this morning.

How long has he been in daycare? When DS first started his schedule was a bit off. Maybe he needs to adjust and then he will sleep longer on his own? I would mention it to them though, see what they say.

No, we stopped the dream feed about 3 weeks ago. He's eating more now though? Keep in mind, he's always been a good night sleeper.

Sunday night however we missed his sleepy window and then he was OVERTIRED since we were at my in-laws and he was very restless all night and woke from 3am-4am. So I truely find that when he's overtired, that is when he gets his worst sleep. So maybe he was overtired last night?

Did you wake him at 7 to feed him/change him?

didn't wake him..he started waking and cried for the bottle at 7:00 so I changed him and fed him.. as soon as the bottle got into his mouth he fell asleep again..(don't even count that 10 mins of wakefulness) lol. I tried burping him....moving him around...nothing worked..he was out!! Chat Icon Def not overtired b/c he was sooo calm.. but after 8 1/2 of sleep...he does need to eat. If he wakes and doesn't need to eat he usually just talks to himself and falls back to sleep!! it's the cutes thing!!
