Extreme Gas Pains in 6 week old
My DS has extreme gas pains when trying to pass gas. It's painful to watch and happens all day and night. We are now giving him Alimentum and that has regulated his poop but has not helped with the gas.
We give him gas drops but really not sure if that is helping. He just seems miserable all the time.
Anyone experience this and have advice?

Alimentum hopefully will help with the gas too. How long has he been on it?
Have you tried Mommys bliss gripe water? Colic calm?

Re: Extreme Gas Pains in 6 week old
My DD had really bad gas from birth until about now, she's 8 weeks now. Nothing worked for her- gripe water, probiotics, drops...nothing. The only thing that seemed to make her feel better was holding her and sitting on an exercise ball and bouncing. I have no idea why it worked but we call it the magic ball because she would stop screaming almost immediately! I also started to give her a pacifier to relax her so she would pass the gas. She seems to be doing better now, I think because she is more active and can work it out on her own a little better. Hope it gets better for you soon, I know how awful it feels to watch them struggle!

My son had very bad gas and nothing helped. We tried gas drops, gripe water, probiotics and I ate a very bland diet since I was nursing. Eventually he just grew out of it. I think it was around 4 months.

He's been on the alimentum for a week. Nighttime is the worst. He hardly sleeps and just cries in pain. It's torture for him and us. We're not getting any sleep.

What kind of bottles are you using? Is he latching tightly to it or leaving too much space for air...

Gerber soothe drops. It is a probiotic. We also used colic calm, it is hemopathic. But just an FYI, it is black colored. It has charcoal in it.

I would try this but if it continues maybe see a pediatric GI. My nephew ended up having to be on Zantac and on elecare formula.

My little girl is 5 weeks old and we went through this too. She was switched to Alimentum 3 weeks ago and it made such a difference. She still has episodes... Colic Calm works magic! But like the others said, it's black (charcoal) and will stain anything it comes in contact with. It's also very pricey and hard to find. CVS has their own version of it that's fairly new and works just as well. Somebody recommended colic calm and when I looked up the reviews, couldn't find a single bad thing said. Everybody raved about it. Hope this helps.

Extreme Gas Pains in 6 week old
I just got over experiencing the same thing and it was driving me crazy to see my daughter inso much pain! She just turned 7 weeks and things have finally gotten better.
We switched formulas first (i have her on Holle). Pediatrician recommended this one.
We used Gerber soothe drops (5 drops a day)
We switched bottles... I think this was causing the issue to tell you the truth. We had success with Dr.Brown with our first but with our second, not so much. I am using the Playtex Drop Ins and the Mam Anti-Colic.
Doing the above has helped a ton and i no longer have to see my daughter in pain.
I would try switching the bottles first... Good luck!

Dr Browns while very popular did not work my dd. I used Playtex drop ins and they were my saving grace! The Dr Browns lip before the nipple was too small for my dd and caused sooo much air to get in she would throw up after every bottle or have very bad spit up and terrible gas. I too switched to Alimentum, but then changed to Playtex Drop Ins (it mimics the mothers breast more closely) and it made a huge difference. You can push the air out of the bag before giving the bottle. Once changed we never looked back.
I def suggest trying Playtex.
