? for BTDT moms who sent DC to day care around age 2 (kind of long!)
We will be sending DS to day care when he is about 2 1/2. We are starting to look at them now. So far I have just made a few phone calls.
First, I am wondering how your DC adjusted to day care? I worked full time when DS was younger and he stayed at home with either DH or MIL..... but I became a SAHM, so now he's very used to being with me 24/7. I am so happy I get to spend this time with him, but worried that it's going to be harder to send him to day care since he'll be more aware of things than I imagine an infant would be?
Every place I called said that we could come to visit and we could bring DS to see how he "likes" the place . I was thrilled to hear this, but then I realized it might be hard to ask questions with DS around.... did anyone do this? Or did you go to check out the place by yourself without DC?
And finally, I'm wondering if your day care let your child somehow adjust by allowing them to go a little bit before they acutally started going to day care. Not sure if that made sense. We want to sign DS up for September, but I'm wondering if they'll let me and/or DS visit in August a few times so he won't flip out the first day i leave him there.
THANKS
edited to add one more question - how important is it to like the director? so far I talked to two directors at two different places and I was not too impressed with them.... they were VERY "blah." At another place I talked to a staff member and LOVED them... just curious if it even really matters if you like the director?
sorry so long!!!!
