Re: Full-time working moms

When I work FT I never did playdates and did not worry about it for DS. He was in daycare so he had all the socialization he needed.

It was more for me and not being about to meet other mommies.

Re: Full-time working moms

DD is only 9 months old, but we hardly ever have them. Our weekends are usually spent running errands and visiting family.

Re: Full-time working moms

Not many playdates here. They have school and after-school activities for socialization. We also take them to the park and other 'kid-oriented' places and activities that allow them to be around other little folk... but I don't really hang out with a lot of the mom's of their classmates, etc.. I do have a couple of ladies from Little League or school that we get together with once a month - give or take. I also have my own friends and my kids tend to play with the children of my friends. My best friend's daughter and my younger son are very close. My older son treats both of her daughters as though they were his own younger siblings.

I have my guilty moments - but I know I am doing the best I can and it's pretty good!

I work 4 days a week and I consider that full time, on Mondays its all about the playdate. I do playdates all day, its as much for me as it is for Noah. Its when I can catch up with my girlfriends and the kids just play! I do have playdates on Sundays also with a few of my girlfriends, so I am all about the playdate.

Re: Full-time working moms

There are two moms that I get together with maybe once a month. Our DC are all the same age and we are all ft working moms. There is not enough time for anything else. We gtg on a weekend day....

I am a FT mom too and we don't do playdates either, luckily we have family in area (SIL has dd around same age) so there is playtime. I do try to do activities out of the house with ds when I can. We participate in the local library programs for children which is a nice change and interactive.

I think social interaction is great but doesn't have to come from a playdate.

Re: Full-time working moms

I am home for the summers and will be home this school year because I am not going back to work...but I still consider myself a "full time working mom" because that's what I did for the past 3 years....

We never had playdates during the week. She played with the kids at the babysitter's house all week, and that's all she got.

Probably about every other weekend we'd see my sister or my brother and his family, so she'd see her cousins then.

We don't even have many friends with kids around Emily's age. It's mostly just her cousins/family members.

We did do Musikgarten and MyGym for the past 2 winters though and I felt that gave her a good amount of fun interaction time with other kids her age.

We usually have something scheduled for most Saturdays. But DH works Saturdays, so it is time for me and Christopher to socialize and see our friendsChat Icon

hardly ever. Ok, almost never.

Like you said, we do everything as a family. Really, all we have are the weekends and one of those days is almost full from running errands.Chat Icon

Never really. He is with his 2 cousins, 4 & 6 2 days a week so for me that is enough.

I have never gone on a playdate! None of my friends have kids either so I only have LIF to get advise from!!

On the weekends I am so busy running around trying to catch up from working all week and spend time with DS. Plus I really dont even know anyone to set up a playdate with.

DS does socialize at daycare so he has the best of 2 worlds, his daycare friends Mon-Fri to play with and 100% attention from his parents on the weekends and weeknights

This is my story too. I never really give playdates a thought. My neighbor has a daughter that is 1 week younger then DS and we get together if we happen to see each other but nothing scheduled.
I try to make the most of the time I have with him. When I am home, I like to stay there Chat Icon

Re: Full-time working moms

Guess I'm the minority here but I have a lot of playdates. I have this great group of mom friends that I met at nursery school. They don't work. I do. Full time. But they are always up for doing something. Since DH is a cop, he gets home late so I often have dinner playdates for a couple of hours during the week and every weekend is a birthday party or something.

Again....my friends can't sit still and neither can I...plus I have twins so it doubles the playdate chances.

It seems a lot of ladies think that playdates is not making the "most of your time" with you child, but I disagree on that.

We gtg for a "playdate" about once/week...

We are lucky to have PrincessP and Gilly as neighbors- so we seem them often, and usually unplanned (its usual a last min phone call or FM)

I also have a very good friend we try to see every other week. I usually head there straight from work and we order in dinner.

My DH plays hockey 1x/week- so I try and schedule things on that day-

Kinda what I was going to say.
Since Maris is right there Gilly pretty much always has Ry to play with and they just love each other to pieces so I never worry about Gilly wanting or longing to play. Ducks2001 and I have been friends for a very long time so Olivia also will always be Gillys friend.
Gilly also goes to daycare so I always feel like her day is fulfilled with playmates. Sporadically, we hang with some of my other friends that have children varying in age groups. Oh and I forgot about my friends children that sleep over every tues nite when she works. Gilly just loves to play with everyone.
