Here is another story about a cop who was hit by a car.

Cop hit

The officer, Francis Byrne, of the First Squad, was not injured.

and that was a pathfinder- this guy had a much smaller car- an alitma

Jake hit by a car doing 20 mph when he was a bouncer- he jumped back up and continued to chase him

So because he wasn't killed, it's ok, right?

And who is talking about Jake here?

OK....I am so done with this subject...obviously LI is filled with many liberal bleeding hearts and I won't win b/c ya'll just continue to turn my words around. Try reading ALL of my posts and then MAYBE you'll see my point.

I'm off to attempt to enjoy the rest of my birthday. Good luck with THIS debate everybody.

Ritse: Yes, I still believe your original post showed ignorance.....and I do apologize for the jacka$$ comment. I was just very offended hearing yet another person scream NYPD is a bunch of racist profilers. But, I do still believe you are quite ignorant (as are MANY others) to what we see and go through on a daily basis. And I still stand by the fact that yes...the criminals that I arrest are savages....NOT the people in my area....I have met many good, hardworking people....JUST the career criminals that I deal with regularly.

b/c we don't know if they knew they were cops- for all we know they thought they were being robbed-

I will never see how a minor injury means it's ok to kill someone

I am amazed. 2 weeks ago your husband wanted to kill someone because they took his Mustang for a joy ride, and you cant understand why an officer would open fire on someone driving a car at them.

Re: Groom Killed on Wedding Day

just my opinion, but it seems in cases like this the general public takes for granted the daily sacrifices the police make for our safety and that they tend to canonize the victims. since all the facts aren't out yet, it doesn't seem to make sense for lay people to speculate as to what was excessive and how/why the police should have handled the situation. i also think that if the victim who died wasn't about to get married it wouldn't pull on the heartstrings of so many people.

are you kidding? I can understand why they would- but 50 bullets and then stopping to reload when no one has shot back- seems excessive

and what is an innocent bystand was shot by a stray bullet? then would still be ok?

Go back and read the whole post and see how quickly you can unload your weapon and fire that many shots! This is the same thing with the 41 shots. Arent people learning how quickly the shots come off or do you just not want to believe it. this all happened in LESS THAN A MINUTE!!!

Re: Groom Killed on Wedding Day

I tried not to get involved in this thread, but I find it hard not to... I knew the groom and got very emotional just by reading all of the prvious posts... and its sad to see how this has whole thread has turned into something that it shouldnt have.

As was stated, we all do not know the facts and can not pass judgement. But I don't care what wnyone says 50 shots is EXCESSIVE...

I'll probably just end up rambling on this post but, this whole issue has been turned into the NYPD against the world and it shouldn't be.

But, I do still believe you are quite ignorant (as are MANY others) to what we see and go through on a daily basis.

I am not disputing the hardships and danger of your job but please do not discredit my experiences and that of many in black community as well. To speak like there aren't any racist or ignorant cops out there is very naive. The cop who sodomized Abner Louimer is one of them.

You wrote in anger so did I, who are you to call me names?

I'm done as well. Enjoy your birthday.

When a cops life is at danger or at risk (like the fact that a car is coming at them, which is not a minor injury, especially when it repeatedly is coming at them) they have every right to make the determination to shoot. They can't sit and ponder for the next ten minutes about what they want to do. Everything happens in a flash. This all took place in less than a minute. 50 bullets - is that a lot. I'm sorry but no. It's takes 2 seconds to load another cartridge. Not 5 minutes, not 2, not even 1.

And for everyone that is crying race. Boo hoo, get over it. I'm sick of everyone always playing the race card. Guess what the cops were a mixed bag of nuts, so lets stop. People are people. Maybe if Al Sharpton stopped sticking his nose in crap like this, the while black/white/hispanic thing wouldn't always rear it's ugly head.
