Re: Had a scare last night
DD also started at about 7 months...I was very nervous at first, but now it really doesn't upset me...I know she's strong enough to lift her head and rollover.

Re: Had a scare last night
My kids were belly sleepers.
If they weren't asleep on their bellies, they would wake up every 20 minutes. Joseph started at 3 months. Maddie started at birth.
It's definitely something you have to be comfortable with.
Many hugs & prayers for today & the next month!

Re: Had a scare last night
My DD has been doing this too for about a month now - She had been sleeping on her belly since about 5-6 months (we always put her down on her back but she rolls all over at night) The ped said not to worry about it as long as she can roll both ways it was okay - BUT she started now sleeping on her belly NOT with her head to the side but FACE down!!! We don't know what to do about it - we are waking up on and off all night and checking the monitor - DH or I then go in and roll her over. I'm planning on asking the ped again thrusday when I see him - when we go in to move her she automatically picks her head right up - but it is definitely scary for us every night now.

Re: Had a scare last night
I know how scary it can be. DS started sleeping on his belly at about 6 months and the first time he did it, it scared the c rap out of me. I didn't sleep well for about 2 weeks after that as I'd get up a lot to check on him. Now that I know he can roll back and forth on his own, it's a little easier. I still get up at least once per night though.

Re: Had a scare last night
Thanks ladies.
I think I would be more open to getting used to her sleeping on her belly if her head was turned to the side when I saw her instead of in the mattress. I think I'll put her down for a nap today on her belly and turn her head.

Re: Had a scare last night
Its so scary when that happens, isn't it?
DD has been moving herself to her belly when she's sleeping for about a month now. I know she can and has flipped herself to her back too- but it still makes me soooo nervous.
It makes me so nervous, that if I see her flipped on her stomach, I run into her room and flip her to her back- but inevitabley, she will flip herself on to her stomach again.

Re: Had a scare last night
DS has been sleeping on his belly since about 2 weeks old!! He just wasn't comfortable on his back & would not sleep for long periods of time. Now he loves to sleep on his side or belly!! He looks so adorable too!!
ETA: DS is now 10 months old and doing great...I never had a scare about his sleeping on his belly.

Re: Had a scare last night
OMG how frightening.
DS has been able to flip to his belly since birth. Literally. He rolled while we were still in the hospital. I guess he began to roll out of the positioner at about 3 months.

Re: Had a scare last night
ds starting rolling at 3.5 months, it took me a long time to get used to him sleeping on his belly... and even now at 8 months I still go and check on him every time I wake up... we had Angelcare Monitor but he rolls around his crib at night so much that darn thing would go off all the time and we couldnt get any sleep lol

Re: Had a scare last night
U'r not gonna believe me when I tell you this, but at 1 week and 1 day.... DD is already starting to turn herself to her sides - she freaks everyone out when they see me lay her on her back, and then in a little while she's on her left or right....
I am freaking about the day that I wake up and find her on her tummy.... I'm really afraid that that day is going to come way too soon....
