I didnt name him after the movie character, but i just loved the name after hearing it. My DS's name is Jake Ryan (sixteen candles)!!

I don't know you well but I am going to guess Emma from "Friends".
I love the show, but I had the exact opposite experience, the show killed the name for me. I still love Emma but couldn't use it after that.
My dad picked my own name after an Edgar Allen Poe poem-a morbid one at that. My mom agreed to it because there was some soap character with the name

I didn't, but I was named after the girl that Sean Connery falls in love with in Darby O'Gill and the Little People. My mom said she wanted a daughter just like her, with freckles and blue eyes, and that is what I have

No, but I did pick Julia as my confirmation name because Pretty Woman was on the night before I had to turn in the form.

we named both of our children after historical figures
a friend of my BIL is named after someone in Lord of the Rings and he hates being asked about it.
I always wondered if Irulan from Real World Las Vegas was named after the book Dune.

Charlotte (Charlotte Bronte)
Jane (Jane Eyre)
Rebecca (of Sunnybrook Farms)
DH vetoed all of them except for Rebecca, so that is one of my DDs name. He has HORRIBLE taste in names. His favorite names? Misty Dawn, and River. NO WAY.

My cousin was named after Darren from Bewitched...he was born in the late 60's. My aunt had no idea what to name him. She opened up the TV guide and there was something about Bewitched and there you go!

I loved the name Jack. DH did not like it so thats what we named our dog...lol
Also LOVE the name Caleb...he is a character from the movie The Covenant.
And again DH did not like it...oh well.

I have a very minimal, totally under control obsession with Johnny Depp. His daughter's name is Lily Rose. When thinking of names, I jokingly said Lily Rose.....but the name Lily really stuck with me. I loved that it was similar to mine, but not my name exactly, and I loved that my middle name, Anne, matched well with it. So we added it as an option.
When she was born, we looked at her, and she was totally a Lily....it just fit. So we named her Lily Anne, sort of after me, as she has my initials.....but I have to admit that the inspiration was from Johnny Depp's daughter.

So, I guess you could say Jack is named after Jack Bauer, and Jack Shepherd...two TV heroes

Allie from "The Notebook". i looooooooooooove that movie and DH insisted that  's name begin with an A, so that was my girl pick. i thought we'd call her Allie but so far have stuck it out with formal Allison

Both of my kids names were inspired by fictional characters, I guess you can say.
DD's name is Lucy. We had a Peanuts calendar up at the time and when we were going through names we liked... DH saw the picture of Lucy on the calendar and suggested the name. I loved it.
DS's name is Dexter. We love the show. I would never say we named him after a lovable serial killer, but the name was certainly inspired from the show, because we both loved his name.
We're not really baby name book type of people. lol
