Just wondered as I heard someone today in Subway saying that they are definately not voting for Obama from the way the hurricane after-math is being handled.

Has the hurricane make you rethink who you will vote for?
No. I was an Obama girl before, and I am an Obama girl now. The federal response to the storm has been entirely appropriate, I feel.

Not at all. It did make me think less of the other guy though. JMO.

This, but I will add that it made me like Christie more than I had in the past. I think his response has been phenomenal and I might consider voting for him in the future.

I wonder if that person was going to vote for him in the first place. IMO, there is a huge difference between this and the way Katrina was handled. Granted, it's not perfect but for Chris Christie to go from disparaging Obama to praising him the way he did, a week before the election, says a lot. You know if Obama had made the smallest misstep Christie would have been all over him.
Anyway, I was going to vote for Obama and I will do so again, with even more confidence in his abilities as a leader in a crisis.

I agree.
I know that many people receiving FEMA aid are thinking twice about their boy Romney bc his views and plans for FEMA are frightening to say the least.

Re: Has the hurricane make you rethink who you will vote for?
Not rethink. I am voting for Romney before and after this. However it has made me realize how important this election is for me. My hometown was underwater, houses on fire, Obama has not responded in the way I feel was warranted. The fact that Romney visited my hometown before the president of the united states, reinforces who has my vote on Tuesday!

I wasn't aware that Romney came to the East Coast after Sandy. I thought he was in Ohio?

Re: Has the hurricane make you rethink who you will vote for?
I need to clear something up Re: FEMA aid...I'm not sure how it works for families who lost homes...but I DO know that BUSINESSES who sustained devastating damage and lost everything are being offered FEMA LOANS at rates higher than their current bank offers. So...just to give you some perspective on whats really going on...it's not all rainbows and free money being handed out.
this is a status a fb friend posted re: their business...and many others who commented said they experienced the same:
"FEMA was ********. Offered us a loan. I get better interest from my bank. Thanks for nothing. Our approximate loss so far 10K."

Even if he was here, how on earth would he visit EVERY SINGLE town affected by Sandy?!?!? I just don't get this point at all.
ETA: By the same standard, there is no human way for Obama to visit every single area affected by the storm.

My town made headlines, it is a disaster in my hometown. Did I expect him to visit every town? No, but the most devastated? Yes. Honestly for all I know he's on his way their right now, but that's really not my point. I have heard him speak about this, and it's not the speech of a president that I am grateful to have, personally. And like I said, I wasn't voting for Obama before this, so no love lost.

If he was in PA it is because it is a swing state. It has nothing to do with the hurricane. Came to Brick, NJ. My parents met him. He actually was in Yardley PA today as well. As I live in yardley..

?? Um I never said he was in PA bc of the hurricane?? We had minimal damage out here, so I think it would be a waste if that was the case. I was just stating the fact that he is not in Ohio, but on the East Coast..
Edited: Realizing how this may came off snarky, and not my intent at all. Long weekend trying to get my family set up after this hurricane..

Interesting. No mention of him being anywhere in NJ on his calendar in the last 6 days. I'll say it again, this would have been huge news especially when Chris Christie said he didn't give a damn about him coming there.
