have you ever run out of gas?
Just curious. I have come pretty close a few times!
edited to mention - i'm not sure if it should say "run" or "ran"

i run on empty way too often, and i leave my electronic devices at 1% battery life too. i think i like the adventure of risk, or i'm too busy to stop what i'm doing.

Yes! It happened once in my POS car that I had when I was about 20. The gas gauge never worked right and one time I was leaving work and the car just died in the middle of the road. My friend was in the car with me and we were so humiliated. 
Thankfully our other friend who was leaving work saw us and went and got gas.

Yes...when I 1st got my license.
I didn't realize that $10 in gas wouldn't always give me the same amount if the price of gas was different.

No. I don't really cut it close but DH has that habit and it bugs me. He has not run out since we've been together but I am willing to bet he has before!

Yes once. It was an old (70's) gas-guzzling Pontiac. I floored it at a light and got about 2 feet! 
I do push the envelope ALL THE TIME though...I swear my last truck knew this and the light would come on way before it was supposed to.

Yes when I was a teenager with my first car. I stalled in the middle of the road, and had my HS boyfriend push my car all the way to a gas station ( which was 3 blocks away).
Ever since these, I've never let it get that low

yes. I was on my way to the gas station because I knew I was low. It died in the middle of Nesconset Highway during morning rush hour (as I was staring at the gas station on the opposite corner). someone has to push me there.

same here!! I always fill up when I have a quarter of a tank left. DH will sometimes wait till the gas light comes on...as I am freaking out he say "don't worry, we have plenty of gas"

Yes when I was younger. Something happened to my gas gauge - it said I had over a quarter tank left, but really I had nothing left. After that, I always went by mileage since I could never trust the gauge.

There was one time that I was literally running on fumes, and the engine was spurting, but I managed to get to a gas station, probably with less than a quarter mile to spare!
Luckily, on most American cars, "E" means "ehhh...you're almost empty...."

Never- it's such a fear of mine I don't let myself get low. I usually fill up when I'm at a quarter or even half a tank.

It's actually a fear of mine to run out of gas. I kinda begin to freak out when that little light comes on. DH likes to push it, and has run out once or twice, and it makes me nuts.

Yes, when I was in HS. The gas gauge was on the fritz and I ran out of gas on a downward hill. I rolled to the bottom and we had to call someone to get us gas

No. Not me. And now I have a car that says how many miles I have to go on the digital dashboard when I get too low and the light goes on!
But I can't tell you how many times DH has and I've been called to come get him, go to a gas station with our little red container and fill him up! He's been better lately now that he drives his own car (he used to drive demos and never checked the gas before coming home).

yes once... we got super lucky though. We were on our way to PreCana on the Belt and (our gas gauge was broken it showed empty all the time and we just spaced on when the last time we filled up was) we were lucky enough that we had enough speed to pull off and right into a gas station... but turning the wheel to get to the tank was one of the hardest things ever... Shaun had to push while i steared

No but DH has.
Sometimes he starts up his car and it stutters and I'm like- uh oh, whats wrong?
And he says- Oh it's nothing, I'm just really low on gas so it's having a hard time starting.
He does this ALL the time !

I have never but i have a father who is terrible - here are some his stories
He ran ut of gas on the upside of the whitstone bridge - a truck gave him a boost over the top of the bridge and he glided down and got help at the bottom
He ran out of gas on the boat with a 22 month and a 3 year old and 2 other adults with no water for the kids and cell phones dying. they were all fine
My mom did not believe him when he said a car ra n out of gas at a quater tank. So in a bank drive up tellar she ran out of gas.
My father has also figured out that he candrive 10 or so miles after it goes to 0 miles to empty. Also alot of cars to not say how many miles to empty under 10 miles
