No thankfully! I have thought I have been close when the gauge is all the down on E. But always made it.
But I was pulling into the gas station behind someone one day and as he was trying to pull in he didn't quite make it to the pump. He had to push it about 10 feet. I laughed, he was so lucky. haha

YES!!
I was on my way to the train station to get to work and I was on the 135 and ran out of gas!! I called my dad to help and by the time he came one of those H.E.L.P trucks had stopped to help me.
It was kinda funny because at first I didn't know what the problem was until I called my dad and he was like "Is your tank on E?"...ooooops!
ETA: When I was in HS my best friend was driving me and our other best friend to school and we ran out of gas one block before school! Cell phones did not exist so we had to push the car onto a block and knock on a door and ask to use their phone. The three of us were all dressed up that day because we had a field trip with DECA.

DH recently ran out of gas on the LIE on his way home from work. Aside from being inconvenient - I had to find a gas station that sold gas cans - it was extremely dangerous - he had to put the gas in while pulled over on the LIE shoulder.

Yes! On the day of my high school graduation, I was at the beach with my best friend and her mom. Her mom took me to go get gas, lol.
If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have made it to graduation! We still joke about it.

Yes - once when I was 18 or 19. Since then I've always been paranoid about running out again, so I'm always on top of it.
THIS. I was driving back up to college and after 5 hours didn't even cross my mind. i was 1 mile away from my destination too...luckily a policeman helped me on the side of the highway and drove me to town to get gas.
Now I don't even like it to go below 1/4 tank!!

Just about. I have had the "E" as a reading before I got in to the station. I am sure the car was riding on fumes.

Yes I did once... thankfully I was in a parking lot when it happened. I had to call DH to bring me gas... It was freezing out and obviously the heat would not work, so I was sooo upset. DD was in the car with me. I took my coat and sweater off and bundled her up. I was pretty embarassed.

no, i have never. we were taught in driver's ed to fill up when we hit 1/4 tank.
my ex-friend ALWAYS ran out of gas. it was a running joke. we'd always have to bail her out.

Yes! Late last year my family came to visit me so I rented a 7 seater car, well they turned up with a Mercedes GL and the man told me to return the car as empty as possible, and that once the light went on, I would have 125 miles left before I ran out of gas. I didn't believe him so I rang his office, and they said the same thing!
So...we went out to dinner on a really dark, rain and hailstormy night...and guess what...we ran out of gas in the middle of a busy intersection. About 100 yards away from a gas station...thank goodness.
Its family legend now!

Yes. Thank God I was just 3 blocks from DH job (and home) and I could walk there. I had my 2 sons with me. I was so mad and embarrassed.
My DS kept saying "at least it's not raining mom right." Trying to cheer me up because I was ready to cry.

Yes!
The day before my csection for my twins. Was supposed to pick DH up from the airport. I knew I needed gas when I left the house, but forgot when I passed the gas station, figured I would stop at the next one...not.
Had to wait for triple A for over an hour with my DD who was 19 months old. DH had to take a cab home:)

Yes...about 4 times. One of my first cars didn't have a working gas guage. I had to reset the trip odometer when I filled up...if I didn't fill up, i had to guess...failed a few times.

No. I grew up upstate in the complete middle of nowhere...you had to plan the fill-ups well  Not only could you not even walk to a gas station if you ran out on the road, you were in pitch dark in the middle of the woods, and I was NOT walking in that
Thankfully the habit has stayed with me, I don't let it get under 1/4 tank still.

My car now tells me how many more miles I have until I hit E, but, I usually fill up when it's on 1/4.

I never "ran out" as in .. needed to call AAA to get me going .. but I am notorious for finally remembering to get gas when the dashboard says I can only go 7 more miles!!
