Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby

I am just reading this now - and I have to say that I think Jack's fussiness was due to the fact that he wasn't getting sufficient naps.

Who else has read this? Do you see a difference in their personality when your children naps to when they don't?

I always found that (and still do) my child's mood is directly related to her sleeping... Too little sleep = unhappy baby!

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

Before... I thought they were having massive teething meltdown. Noooooo, they were just overtired. A switch really is flicked between the third and fourth month.

I also agree with the author that sleep, and sleep in the crib, is vital to brain development. He just might have something there about his theory linking ADD/ADHD and the "portable kid" in our society. I see it in my classroom.

After... virtuall,y no fussiness, unless their gums really do hurt. Three naps a day, with an hour or two of wakefulness in between. My Chat Icon is absolutely by this bookChat Icon We can't really go anywhere right now, just one errand a day, due to all of the naps. But if they didn't need the naps, they wouldn't take themChat Icon

I am definately finding that out with my DS, who will be one month old this thursday and sometimes doesn't want to nap during the day. And boy is he a crab. I rock him but he will only go down for a cat nap sometimes. I hope to find the time to get that book myself.

I found this to be *the* most helpful book I've read about schedules/sleep. It's a wonderful resource and I've been blessed by two fantastic sleepers since!Chat Icon Chat Icon
