hello! I have a quick question if you don't mind sharing.......

sorry to crash, but I have a quick question.....DH & I were talking about when we want to start TTC, our 1st wedding anniversary is in September and we're going away to Orlando and since going on rides and being pregnant is probably not a good mix, we're going to start TTC a little while after that.

soooooo here's my question if you don't mind sharing.....

-what month did you conceive?

-when is your due date?

some people have told me that its like your really pregnant 10 months because of your cycle or something (I think I heard that from my MIL actually)......we have to think about whether we should start TTC earlier than later since my cycle is pretty irregular (45-60 days). I'd like to have a baby in August-October 2009, god willing that we don't have any issues TTC

thanks ladies!! looking forward to hopefully joining this board in 6 months or so! Chat Icon

Re: hello! I have a quick question if you don't mind sharing.......

My last menstrual period was March 18th, I ovulated around April 1st and am due on December 25th.

I think having a 45-60 day cycle would change your due date. Usually the due date is based on your LMP, but if you concieve on cycle day 45 instead of cycle day 14, your due date would be about a month later.

Good Luck!

Re: hello! I have a quick question if you don't mind sharing.......

I also have had a 45 plus day cycle. We started trying three months before our 1 year anniversary, this past October, hoping to be PG by our 1 year. We found out that and I was pregnant in November. It seems that I ovulated around November 3rd and conception was around the 4th or 5th of November. I am due July 30th but was originally given a beginning of August due date. Best of Luck! 3 women I work with are all due in August and they found out they were PG in December and conceived in late November.

Re: hello! I have a quick question if you don't mind sharing.......

The first day of my LMP was 2/12 and I am due 11/18. A lot of the online calculators you can play around with to see potential due dates, and usually you can adjust the number of days per cycle.

I think the whole "pregnant for 10 months thing" comes from the fact that you are pregnant for 40 weeks, which is 10 months. You finish your entire 9th month

Re: hello! I have a quick question if you don't mind sharing.......

We got the Chat Icon on our OPK on 1/6 and are due on 9/28.

well, most couples really can't plan to get preggo at a specific time... you just have to go for it and hope for the best. I highly recommend that you begin formally charting your cycle now, so you'll have a record that is several months long when you begin to try... also, when you both decide it is your time to TTC, start taking prenatal vitamins, and invest in a good OPK. (we also used pre-seed)

The OPK was really valuable to me... I had no idea that I ovulated on day 16 (thought it was 14). so my leutal phase was a bit short... that could hamper conception if it's too short... mine was JUST long enough...

thank you!! that's very helpful info!! so far I can check off some of the things you said:

1) I started tracking my cycle on mymonthlycycles.com as soon as I came off of the pill (in December)- it calculates my average cycle length to be 45 days (although I've had it as long as 60 days in the past 6 mths).

2) I started taking an OTC prenatal pill from CVS about 2 mths ago so I can build up my folic acid Chat Icon

3) I have a few ovulation tests that my pregnant friend (JenandMikey!) gave me (after getting her BFP!)....funny side story is when I had the 60 day cycle I took what I thought was a pregnancy test, and it was the ovulation test- which gave me 2 lines in the test window, and I thought I was actually pregnant!! Chat Icon

I'm a little confused about the ovulation tests, but I don't really want to waste the ones Jen gave me until I'm ready to use them. with my long cycle I'm sure they'll really come in handy!!!

thank you!! Chat Icon

Re: hello! I have a quick question if you don't mind sharing.......

for the ovulation tests... there are regular ones and digitals...

for the manual ones... There is a test line.... then you POAS and a 2nd line appears... you are most fertile when the 2nd line is as dark or darker than the pre-existing test line.

as you can tell, the regular tests can be frustrating, so many flip the bill for the digitals... the TTC board women can definitely give you detailed pros and cons of each...

the con with the digitals is cost...you have to take the test every day starting at some reasonable point about 30% of the way through your cycle until you get the +.

I HIGHLY recommend that you not worry too much about timing. I can tell you from experience that things don't always work out as easily as you hope and you don't know what problems you may encounter along the way. I always thought I would just get pregnant when I was ready and it didn't work out that way and I had to spend months with a reproductive endocrinologist. That's not to say you will have trouble but life is unpredictable...........when you're ready for a baby just go for it and don't sweat what month you will be due. You will figure it all out no matter what month the baby makes his/her arrival. Lots of luck to you!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

thank you sooooo much!!! I really hope when the time comes I don't make myself nuts with it and we can just "have fun" trying Chat Icon BUT I will say......my DH is a hunter (I'm soooo not a fan!!) and he goes hunting quite a bit in November and early December, not that he's always away during that time, but I will say I'd be happier not to have to stress about him possibly being away for the weekend or something when I'm pregnant (although close to the due date I'd think he wouldn't leave my side, but only time will tell on that one!! Chat Icon not to mention future birthday's of our child will have to be planned around hunting season, yes he's THAT crazy with it!!! good lord, can ya tell I'm a planner or what?? Chat Icon

thank you for the advice! and I'm happy to hear that you did get pregnant, despite having to go to a specialist! Chat Icon
