HELP!! I am at the end of my rope with Buddy
He is peeing and pooping everywhere.
We have a wee wee pad laid out in the bathroom (which I hate) and he used to go always only on that.
He was already trained to use the pad when we got him (he was 10wks). We tried to train him to go outside but he hated going outside. He would cry and refused to walk. I felt bad for him so I let him use the wee wee pad.
We moved into a house with a back yard the begining of the month and he seem to adjust just fine. He knew to go into the bathroom on his pad. Now that he's older (he is 24wks now) we have been taking him outside. Really just for him to get use to being outside and he really loved being out there. He didn't use the potty outside but did come in and go on his pad.
Ever since Sunday he refuses to use the pad. Nothing new has happened, he is in perfect health since we last saw the vet. Food is the same, food schedule the same.
We feed him a cup at 8am and then again at 4pm. He is a Lhasa/Maltese mix.
We are so brand new to all this and are trying really hard with him. Today was rough he was good all day, went poo on the pad and when he followed me outside he went pee, which was great, I praised him up and down lol. Then just a little while ago peed all over DS little fold out couch.
I realize the wee wee pads are confusing to dogs and I so want to get rid of them. I just dont know how to get him to go outside only and to let us know when he has to go because watching him all day today he showed no sign that he had to go.
I am so confused and I apologiez if this post is all over the place.
I wish I could have Cesar Millan come live with me lol.
Any help/advice? I would so appreciate it.

You mentioned that you moved into a new house? Could it be tht Buddy is just making his mark in unfamiliar territory?

First of all...at six months he's at the age where he will start marking and that could be your problem. If he's not neutered, I would get him neutered asap. Secondly, the best way to train him to start going outside is to take wee wee pad outside when you take him out...Stop leaving one in the house when he gets the idea...soon he should just be going outside.

Re: HELP!! I am at the end of my rope with Buddy
I agree with all that's been suggested and have another one - training Buddy to tell you when he needs to go outside. We had to do it because Brinkley wouldn't tell us when he needed to go out so now he rings a bell by the back door. We haven't had an accident since, and it was months before he was neutered too.
Once you figure out how many times a day he needs to go, it's always good to have a schedule. That way, if it's more frequent and there hasn't been an increase in food or water, it's easier to determine if there's a medical problem there too.
If Buddy is good with responding to your training, I can tell you how we did it. Good luck with his neutering too, we just went through it and everything went fine.

Crate training will be your best bet. Take him out to do his business. If he doesn't, put him in his crate. This is not a punishment and should never be used as one. Praise him when he gets it right.
He's too young to have the run of the house so you should confine him to an area of the house, like the kitchen where the floor can easily be cleaned of his mistakes.
ETA ~ ITA about moving the pad outside.
I completely agree with crating.. take him out to give him a chance to go before you put him in the crate. and when you take him out of the crate, take him out immediately and I'd suggest staying out until he goes and giving MAJOR praise when he goes.
I also agree with confining to kitchen (or 1 room of your choice) until he learns. If you google crate training you will find lots of pages about it and there are lots of great tips! when I adopted my do she was going all over the house and after crating, she has learned.
good luck!
