Help with giving an infant eye drops
I need help...my DD is 7 months old and had greed gunk coming out of her eye earlier this week, so our ped called in eye drops. Well, giving eye drops to an infant has proven to be an impossible task!!
Does anyone have any recommendations on the best way to do this? The Rx cost $50 and half of it gets wasted because she wont open her eyes and i get it EVERYWHERE!!!
TIA ~Amy

Re: Help with giving an infant eye drops
You're supposed to pull down on the skin below the center of her eye and drop it there, but I found that didn't work. My DS needed eye drops but he was only 2 months at the time so i'm sure he was not as squirmy as a 7 month old. What we did is whe laid him on the changing table and put a drop in the corner of his eye near his nose....as soon as he went to blink, the solution would go into his eye without a problem. You probably would just have to hold her head still so she remains looking up..
Good luck!

MY DS had to have drops put in but he would not have it so i called my pediatrician and he called in a rx for a cream that you put on the corner of the eye and it worked great. maybe see if there is an alternative cream

What works best for my kids....
I put the drops in the corner of their eye...even as it's shut tight. Hold their head so that it doesn't drip down or over the nose. Once they open their eye it will fall right in!
