History repeating itself
Well it’s happening.
You can’t attend some events in NY unless you are vaccinated. How is this not discrimination? What if you can’t due to an allergy (research, certain allergies are advised not to get it), previous vaccine reactions, etc...
You can’t even test negative to attend some events. One event, the pride event on Long Island actually surprised me. A group that wants everyone to accept them isn’t so accepting of everyone. Either get the vaccine or don’t attend. No time limit either, so if you got it in December and we do t know if it’s still effective....that’s fine. You can still come.
The whole Yankees/Mets special vaccine entitlements are a joke.
You can be positive and have the vaccine!!!!! I’d rather be in a room with people who produce a negative test vs vaccinated people.
But don’t worry....I’ll just use my cousins vaccine card. Because after all, you can’t ask me for ID to match up the names because that’s racist....correct?
Only in NY
Coming soon....high school field trips to the vaccine clinic, as per Cuomo’s press conference! Woohoo!

Re: History repeating itself
What's going on with the Yankees? I saw this on their website...
For Games beginning Friday, May 21, and pursuant to New York State and Department of Health Guidelines, COVID-19 testing and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will no longer be required for entry into Yankee Stadium. More information will be announced at a later date.
So they won't be requiring a negative test or vaccine anymore to attend the games??

From king cuomo .... baseball reopening will feature different capacity rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated sections.
You know....back of the bus vs. front of the bus

I mean, that’s the rule. Private companies have the right to do so. I’m not vaccinated yet and I understand their position. I also don’t equate racism with trying to recover from a global pandemic.

This is segregation right in front of you. We had the daily Covid death rate in NY of ZERO on May 1!!!! ZERO!!! We are averaging 20 now. In all of NY. Vulnerable are vaccinated. Cuomo flat out said he’s pretty much going to do what he needs to do to be the highest vaccinated state. This is disgusting! If you are ok with this and aren’t upset by it they will continue to slowly take away more if you don’t get the vaccine.

Re: History repeating itself
Yup but we will offer you free tickets if you get vaccinated at a game. Or maybe you would like a beer as we can give you a free drink or a donut.
Give me a break. The constant pushing of this vaccine is ridiculous.
They have said 70% will get it and that should be fine so leave the 30% alone about it.

Vaccination will help lead towards herd immunity. Why do you think the daily COVID rate was zero? If you don't want the vaccine, don't get it. But also don't complain about missing privileges by putting others at risk.

History repeating itself
The difference is you chose not to get vaccinated, people don't choose their race. You can't compare this to the civil rights movement. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't unvaccinated people still allowed at ball games? They just sit in a different section? Are they worse seats? If all people have sections reserved from them that are considered good seats, I don't see the problem. I really wouldn't care who I sat with at a ball game or Broadway show- vaccinated, unvaccinated. I really don't care because if I am that uncomfortable I wouldn't go in the first place. That being said, many elderly and immunocompromised people got vaccinated, and if they are the 5% where the vaccine didn't work, that could be deadly for them. I understand why they would be more comfortable being around vaccinated people only.

I don't think NYS has hit that yet. It seems to be averaging 30-40 deaths per day. (source @HealthNYGov health.ny.gov)

I absolutely agree with you. I am vaccinated and it’s a very personal choice to get it - not FDA approved and pretty much a mass trial with us taking it. Also agree with the fact that you can have Covid even vaccinated so this makes zero sense. I can see Covid testing before an event, vaccine or not, if they are trying to keep people safe. Separating by vaccine status is like being below deck on the titanic. Some people have a real fear of the vaccine, some people cannot take it due to medical issues, some just don’t believe in vaccines at all. If you’re vaccinated and believe it’s protecting you, why would you want to separate yourself from those who aren’t? Risk is the same either way

I'm still confused though. So now I can enter Yankee stadium as of May 21st with no proof of vaccine or negative test? Because that's what I'm reading on the website. If so, sweet. But i don't understand why. What's the reasoning for dropping those requirements as of the 21st?

I don’t think so as they just said they will have separate sections for vaccinated and non and will (pressure) offer nons a vaccine for a free ticket.

Suffolk County Health shows at least 1 death every day. Yesterday was 8.

Fans at the Yankees and Mets games and other events will "have to provide proof of full immunization status, which can be provided through paper form, digital application or the State's Excelsior Pass," Cuomo said.
Ducks stadium will have separate sections too

Yeah you can go on SCH in fb or Twitter and see just SC so all of NY can’t be 0.

Re: History repeating itself
There is a difference between the NY death rate and the Suffolk death rate. The NY rate has not been zero but it may have been in Suffolk. I'm not sure what App people are using but that may be the cause of confusion.
Regarding Yankee/Mets stadiums, Cuomo said today that he is dropping the negative test requirement because it was too burdensome. Instead, if you are vaxxed, you can sit with others and there are more seats available. If you are not vaxxed, you have to go to a separate section with less seating and maintain 6 feet of distance. However, EVERYONE must be masked.
In my opinion the vaccine passports are being used now in the short term to force vaccination but are not sustainable because they said that your protection doesn't last forever and so you will need more shots. In fact, those over 50 will be getting a third shot in the fall (according to Cuomo). So, it's not clear to me whether these "passports" will expire or not and if they do, everyone's will expire at different times and people will just have to keep on getting shots on a rolling basis to do anything. It will become unmanageable.
I am fine not going to a ball game. Even if I was vaxxed, I wouldn't pay all that money to wear a mask outside for 3 hours anyway. Bummer, but yes it's my choice so I will live with it.
FYI Cuomo also said today that the state cannot "mandate" the vaccine under Emergency Use Authorization. Until it is fully approved by the FDA, it cannot be required for school or other government places.

What about people who have recovered from Covid and don’t want to get the vaccine, since they have the antibodies?

I work in a hospital and we had someone die from covid yesterday... and the day before. I guess their deaths don’t count? Someone still died from covid. That’s someone’s loved one and they matter....
