I'm still confused though. So now I can enter Yankee stadium as of May 21st with no proof of vaccine or negative test? Because that's what I'm reading on the website. If so, sweet. But i don't understand why. What's the reasoning for dropping those requirements as of the 21st?
Fans at the Yankees and Mets games and other events will "have to provide proof of full immunization status, which can be provided through paper form, digital application or the State's Excelsior Pass," Cuomo said.
Ducks stadium will have separate sections too
But this is straight from the Yankees website:
For Games beginning Friday, May 21, and pursuant to New York State and Department of Health Guidelines, COVID-19 testing and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will no longer be required for entry into Yankee Stadium. More information will be announced at a later date.

So odd. Unless you have to buy tickets online and have to prove your vaccination there.

Re: History repeating itself
I see this:
Since the start of the season, and to comply with New York State’s physical distancing requirements, the New York Yankees have been selling a limited number of tickets in specified temporary seating locations ("Ticket Pod(s)") to select home games ("Limited Capacity Games"). In cooperation with New York State, the City of New York and Major League Baseball, the New York Yankees have received approval to increase attendance to 33% capacity at Yankee Stadium, with select designated seating sections for fully vaccinated fans beginning with the Game scheduled for Friday, May 21.

FYI Cuomo also said today that the state cannot "mandate" the vaccine under Emergency Use Authorization. Until it is fully approved by the FDA, it cannot be required for school or other government places.
I am glad that was said. I had my Covid shot and I am a pro-vax person, but with this particular one, I think it is highly unfair to impose any requirement on people to take it. It is NOT FDA approved. The proper trials have not been fully conducted. Would you ingest any medication that a doctor recommended if he also mentioned it was not FDA approved and rushed to market? You may choose to take it to give it a whirl but some may choose to forego it. It's your body!
And as Naturalmama said, I am comfortable around vaccinated and non-vaccinated people. If I was worried about Covid, I should stay home. Quite frankly, I have DMB tickets for September from a re-scheduled show and I'm not totally into the idea of going yet. We'll see what September brings.

So they won't be requiring a negative test or vaccine anymore to attend the games??
From king cuomo .... baseball reopening will feature different capacity rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated sections.
You know....back of the bus vs. front of the bus
I heard this on the radio this morning. So if I want to take my kids to a Mets game I have to be separated from them? My husband and I are both vaccinated, but have NO plan on getting my kids vaccinated. I also heard they will provide J&J vaccines at the games?

As of now he said kids under 16 can stay with their parents even if not vaccinated since they can't be.
And yes they will offer shots at the games. He did not specifically say J&J.

Thats what it sounds like to me. I am sorry but it is disgusting how they are pushing people to get this vaccine. Something that many are not comfortable with but it seems every time you turn around (and I am SURE it won’t be just for a ball game) you need to be vaccinated or if you are not you are meant to feel shunned. How people are comfortable having their children be an experiment is beyond me too. God forbid it does affect their fertility years down the road, they will regret their hasty, pressured decision.

I heard that on radio this morning, that was going to be the shot administered. Makes sense, because it is a one shot deal. Who is going to come back in 3 weeks for second shot?

Let's make no mistake, this is 100% about money. These empty stadiums with the reduced capacity are terrible for these teams. They need to fill those seats to pay their players the huge salaries they make to play a game a few months of the year. They figure they can sell more seats if they are able to pack people in like sardines again. Personally, I prefer to sit in a limited capacity area. Nice and spread out, plenty of room, no drunk asshole sitting right on top of me spilling beer. That's no punishment to me. And certainly no incentive to get vaccinated. If anything it's a deterrent.

OMG, I totally agree with this. Last Mets game we went to this happened to my husband, and the guy was an idiot about it. He spilled a whole beer down my husband's back. When we went to an Islander's game a few weeks ago, it was kind of nice not sitting next to people for that reason.

Of course it's about money - that's what any business is in business for - to make money. And of course they make less money when there are empty seats. Whether it's a stadium, restaurant, nail salon, etc. Is that a bad thing?

Re: History repeating itself
So what would you compare the separation of vaccinated vs non vaccinated to? Seriously, make a suggestion as to what could be a better comparison so you don’t get offended. You seem to know better so teach instead of judge. I don’t think any insult was intended with the comparison. Not everyone who uses this website is as woke and evolved as others.

History repeating itself
Vaccine status is not a protected class under our Constitution. It is NOT discrimination to require a vaccine to enter a private business. Still your choice whether or not to get it, but stop calling it discrimination.

It’s not the business though that made up this rule, it was Cuomo.

They said they aren't requiring tests or vaccines anymore as it's too hard to track. I'd also assume people aren't coming out as readily because if you aren't vaccinated, going to get tested to go to a ballgame is a bit of a pain. Ballparks in nearby states don't require tests/vaccines either.

Not true. Cuomo just came out yesterday with the announcement of the seating separation and getting vaccines at the stadiums for free tickets.

Well yes. If you have proof of vaccination you can sit in the general seating area with more crowds. But you will no longer HAVE to show proof of vaccine or negative test to sit in the socially distanced areas. That is what is happening at Yankee Stadium as of May 21st. If you are vaccinated, you can show proof to get tickets in the more crowded area. If not, no proof of anything will be needed to enter anymore. This is for the Yankees at least

See now I'd go to a game. I had no desire to go through the hassle of a test and figuring out the timing for the results etc before I could go to a game- too stressful and tickets are too expensive to take the chance of something going wrong. this was a good move on their part. And I'd prefer to sit in the spaced out section anyway- see drunk assholle comment from above. LOL

What's going on with the Yankees? I saw this on their website...
For Games beginning Friday, May 21, and pursuant to New York State and Department of Health Guidelines, COVID-19 testing and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will no longer be required for entry into Yankee Stadium. More information will be announced at a later date.
Ahh gotcha so you probably have to do that while buying the tickets online as I didn’t think they sold them at the stadium but that might have changed too.

To sit in the vaccinated section you need proof of vaccination but you don't need proof of vaccination or a negative test to go to Yankee Stadium in general. If you don't show proof - you can sit in the section with those assumed unvaccinated.
Understood, thanks :)

Of course, but people shouldn't be under the illusion that any of these new rules are to protect people and for the greater good. It was and always has been about the money. Personally, I'd prefer to sit alone with the other dirty non vaccinated people so no skin off my back

History repeating itself
Discrimination is the unjust treatment of people based on race, age, or sex. The reason this can't be compared to Rosa Parks is because non vaccinated people can still enjoy a ball game, the only thing they have to do is be socially distanced. Which, like a PP said, that isn't necessarily a bad thing even without COVID. Who wants to be jam packed into a stadium? The unvaccinated will probably have a more enjoyable experience lol. You can't compare that to being told you can't drink out of a water fountain or sit at the front of the bus because of the color of your skin.

Disability and religion are also 2. 2 that could prevent someone getting the vaccine.
Many like the jam packed feeling, just like many like moshing at concerts. Just because many of us don’t, that doesn’t mean others might rather be near other fans to have that feeling of enjoying the game with them.
