Discrimination is the unjust treatment of people based on race, age, or sex. The reason this can't be compared to Rosa Parks is because non vaccinated people can still enjoy a ball game, the only thing they have to do is be socially distanced. Which, like a PP said, that isn't necessarily a bad thing even without COVID. Who wants to be jam packed into a stadium? The unvaccinated will probably have a more enjoyable experience lol. You can't compare that to being told you can't drink out of a water fountain or sit at the front of the bus because of the color of your skin.
Disability and religion are also 2. 2 that could prevent someone getting the vaccine.
Many like the jam packed feeling, just like many like moshing at concerts. Just because many of us don’t, that doesn’t mean others might rather be near other fans to have that feeling of enjoying the game with them.
I am not debating on whether this particular rule is right or wrong. All I am saying wanting to be near fans in a crowded stadium is not the same as wanting to be able to sit wherever they want on a bus or send your child to any school that you want. There is a huge difference. I was only addressing the civil rights comparison.

Comparing this to the civil rights movement is insulting and ignorant.
If I had something that made it impossible or life threatening for me to receive the Covid vaccine that is 100% discrimination for not allowing me to enter a place. Forget about sitting in a certain section, there are places that flat out will not let you in! Obviously this must not affect you so you don’t see it that way. But put yourself in someone else’s shoes who can’t get the vaccine.
But my favorite, unvaccinated children (you know the ones who supposedly carry and spread Covid) can sit in the vaccinated section with their parents. OPEN YOUR EYES.... none of this makes sense!!!

History repeating itself
And some food for thought....the flu shot has not gotten rid of the flu.
You get the vaccine and you still have to wear your mask at these events. And your sitting with unvaccinated children.
Where is the spike from the ball game in Texas....the full maskless stadium?
Unvaccinated children have been playing during recess with masks and haven’t had any outbreaks....but unvaccinated adults can spread it if they sit near you I guess?
Unvaccinated children play sports maskless ....no outbreaks.

I think they did wear masks in Texas for that game but yeah- full stadium no vaccine required. I'm waiting on the Kentucky Derby spike actually. I heard they were packed in tight. Oh and you should see the night clubs in Florida- pre Covid crowds, no masks ,packed in, INDOORS. Waiting on those spikes as well

My other guess is that this age group isn't running out to get tested. I feel like if they get sick it's mild and mistaken for a cold and they move on with their lives. You can't have spikes unless people are testing. So unless someone is getting deathly sick and needs a doctor or hospital so many cases in this young age group go unnoticed and/or unreported.

This.
I mean my DS had a runny nose last week and I had to get him tested for Covid because of school. In the past, I would have never had thought twice about sending him to school, but I didn't want to the the parent who caused a kid to become infected and then pass it onto their grandma who subsequently dies.
Also, Florida is currently ranked 9th for cases per 100,00 people. NY is 17th. (according to NYT data).
I think in some states people do not get tested if they have just cold like symptoms. Heck, I know someone here who was bed ridden for over 3 weeks, but refused to get tested because she didn't need the government knowing her business.

The extremely small number of people that are medically unable to be vaccinated is exactly WHY everyone else should be vaccinated.
Please tell me what places are not letting you in without being vaccinated. Because I am not vaccinated right now and I have not been denied entry anywhere. Or even asked about my vaccine status.

Or numbers are all skewed. SC Health shut down their comments to some posts because they were getting asked questions about their numbers. Maybe that doesn’t worry some but it does to me when we are still more closed than other states and might not have to be.

This should be a choice, not something you need to be pressured into by free things. You might not be interested but the Long Island Pride day is for ONLY vaccinated people. So, yes, you would be denied entry for not having the vaccine. Prideonthebeach.org

The only reason cuomo isn’t requiring all this testing now is because he wants his numbers down now. You can’t have states like Florida and Texas lower than you. I

Sad, right? I am sure this one be the last either that will start requiring it and shunning people who can’t or don’t want it.

Yep he wants to look like the hero. Funny how the numbers all spiked and then the miraculous vaccine came along and they plummeted. Not low enough though to try and give free beer and game tickets away.

Nothing is opened 100% yet and I am pretty sure you still have to order food at a bar and the curfews have not been lifted for many places until later this month.

What do you mean 100%? As in capacity? That's not even a huge deal. Have you been somewhere and been turned away because they are full? I'm out to eat, etc. all the time and that has yet to happen to us. Actually it's nicer because stuff like the movies has no one there anyway
In addition, there is a date set to eliminate the curfews, and food does not have to be ordered to drink now.
I was reading those SC facebook posts, and people are just such nasty Karen's with nothing better to do with their time. I get why they turn them off.

Yes all will be starting but still not open like other states. Proms can not have outside guests, they have to have multiple days so not everyone can go together. The dancing part just started. They have to be tested before going. These things are not happening in other states.

Or numbers are all skewed. SC Health shut down their comments to some posts because they were getting asked questions about their numbers. Maybe that doesn’t worry some but it does to me when we are still more closed than other states and might not have to be.
What is still closed in Suffolk County? I'm out all the time. Everything is open.
Yes all will be starting but still not open like other states. Proms can not have outside guests, they have to have multiple days so not everyone can go together. The dancing part just started. They have to be tested before going. These things are not happening in other states.
Yeah well school is still socially distanced and masked and not all districts are even fully open. So I get the Prom thing. I thought you were saying that businesses and entertainment were not open in Suffolk County. School is a whole other ballgame.
In addition, many other states are not as densely populated as NY. California is like us. They still have restrictions on many things. It is what it is. By Summer it will all be back to normal. But, is it really impacting your life that much right now to not be able to stay out at a bar until 4am this week? (rhetorical)

I have been waiting for Florida Covid spikes since spring break! I saw countless unmasked photos in crowds. Where is the spike????
My other guess is that this age group isn't running out to get tested. I feel like if they get sick it's mild and mistaken for a cold and they move on with their lives. You can't have spikes unless people are testing. So unless someone is getting deathly sick and needs a doctor or hospital so many cases in this young age group go unnoticed and/or unreported.
This.

Yes kids have lost out on a lot of things. Especially in NY while other states are not as strict. When I told someone they wouldn’t have dancing (before the change last week) they were like, what is this, Footloose? Lol
Actually I do miss going out listening to bands and dancing and maybe not to 4am anymore but late. No clue how things will be when they really start up soon but if you see other states don’t make you sit in your seats the entire time. If it can be done elsewhere, it can be done here.

History repeating itself
After May 19th NY will be very close to back to normal. Only difference will be social distancing and indoor mask mandates. Also, I don't care if you don't want to get the vaccine, and I actually agree that it shouldn't be mandated for most things right now, as it's so new. But please do not claim that the numbers plummeting have nothing to do with the vaccines. That is exactly what this is...the vaccine working. You can not want it for yourself but still admit it works. The majority of new hospitalizations are those who are unvaccinated, as a matter of fact, when Michigan was facing their surge in March, they said the bulk of new hospitalizations were unvaccinated people under 50. That doesn't mean you should get it, but let's not really still think it doesn't work.

I truly hope it works, I do. I just don’t trust Coumo with anything anymore and especially numbers.
