Re: Holy big baby Batman!!! (Results from my 35 wk growth sono)
I agree with Steph, big babies rule! I posted a very similar post to yours just a few short weeks ago so def know how you feel.
At 32w, my DS was measuring 6lbs 4oz....waaaay ahead of schedule. My doctor was concerned so at 36w she wanted me to get a second growth sono by someone else and he was then measuring 8lbs 5oz. DH and I spent a long time talking to our doc about our options and she def wasnt in a rush to recommend a scheduled c/s because I too wanted to deliver vagiinally. Her only concern was that she didn't want me going past my due date because of his large size. So we decided on the "wait and see" approach and she started checking me at 36 weeks. I made minimal progress but by 39w had completely stalled and DS had not lowered himself in the birth canal at all. She didn't recommend an induction for me because there is already an increased risk of fetal distress when the baby is larger and inducing could more than likely end in an emergency c/s. I wound up having a scheduled c/s at 40w and DS was 9lbs 10oz so they were confident in the accuracy of the growth sonos in my case. My doc was also 99% sure that I wouldn't havebeen able to deliver him on my own based on his position, his size, and the size of my pelvis, so we were happy with our decision.
I always wanted a vaginal birth so understand how you feel. But I assure you, the c/s was great, recovery was fast, and I truly don't feel like I missed out on anything because of it. In fact, seeing the nurses hand DS to my DH first was the best moment of my life.

Re: Holy big baby Batman!!! (Results from my 35 wk growth sono)
i would wait this out and see what happens.
first of all, growth sonos are just an estimate of baby's size, and have a LARGE margin of error (as many posters on this thread have attested to!).
secondly, even if your baby was on the large side, why couldn't you deliver vaginally? a big baby isn't a contraindication to a vaginal delivery.
induction increases the risk of a c-section. i definitely wouldn't opt for it because of these results, and i certainly wouldn't opt for the c-section at this point. i would fight to have the vaginal delivery that you want! at this point i don't see any reason not to. jmo.

Re: Holy big baby Batman!!! (Results from my 35 wk growth sono)
Thanks so much ladies. Your stories make me feel better about the situation as far as the varying outcomes. I don't know why I think they'd just tell me I'll have to have a c if the baby is big. Maybe I feel like that's what I've heard from friends...but then again they might be feeding me misinformation or maybe they themselves didn't ask enought questions. I'm not sure. I'm just going to be clear with my OB on thursday that going vaginally is what I want even if he's big, and unless is having issues with the delivery or a complication arises ahead of time where his safety would be compramised, I want to try and do it on my own.

My belly was measuring big, when I went for a growth sono at 37w, 2days, my dd was measuring at 8lb, 3oz
she was born 12 days later (at exactly 39 weeks) and weighed 9lb, 8oz
big babies are the best, nice and solid
I agree!!! Madison was born at 40 weeks exactly and weighed 9.12!! def the best baby!!

I am worried that my baby with be to big for natural birth too because DH weighed 10 lbs when he was born.
I was only 6lbs 7 oz. Was your DH big?

Yup, as a matter of fact every baby in his family born in his generation(his siblings and first cousins) weighed no less than 9 lbs. And now their children (his nieces and nephews) are all the same, all at least 8 1/2 lbs, 3 of them over 10 lbs. I was 6 lbs 15 oz and my siblings were all 6 lbs as well. Guess my is taking after his side.

Your OB might be concerned because of the combo of the belly measuring big and the growth sono.
She was concerned, that's why she sent me for the growth sono earlier than she usually does she said. My belly has been measuring large since 30 wks. Not too large at 30 wks, but at 33 wks I guess my belly size jumped dramatically so she then wanted me to go in a wk early to get the sono. But I still have to see her this wk now that we have the results so we'll see what she says. What ended up happening? Did you go vaginally?
I just came back to the thread now, sorry I didn't answer sooner.
I went into labor at 37.5 weeks. I was in active labor for 3 and 1/2 LONG days. I went to L&D twice, got sent home twice. I was in pain for 3 days and had little to no sleep. The third time I went to L&D, they kept me and called my OB. We had already discussed a C/S and since I was exhausted and emotionally wiped out at that point, I decided to do the C/S. The OB told me that I could still try to go vaginally if I wanted to (she was more concerned about me delivering a 10 lb + baby, not a 9 pounder), but I just didn't have it in me, and I don't regret my decision at all.

Re: Holy big baby Batman!!! (Results from my 35 wk growth sono)
I had a sono I week before my due date, Baby measured around 8.5 lbs. I had DS 8 days late and he was 10 lbs. I delivered him vaginally with an epi of course!

Re: Holy big baby Batman!!! (Results from my 35 wk growth sono)
I've been told I'm having a big baby. As of last week, baby dodge is measuring (and confirmed by a sono) at around 8.6 oz. That being said, they will induce/or do a c-section next week. They will not let me go past 1 week after due date. Honestly, I'm praying I get some progress from now till Monday so I can try going vaginally, but I've accept that I'm probably going to end up with a c. I know a lot of people's growth sonos were off so I'm rooting for this.
