Re: How did you know you were ready to TTC?

so my husband read this and said "UHHHH...YOU WERE BORN!" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I've ALWAYS wanted to be a mom more than anything else...BUT the deciding factor was when we got pregnant and we were so happy and excited...DH would kiss my belly and took such good care of me...I knew we would be ready for it and when we lost it we felt robbed. we now know what it feels like and we'd give anything to have that back. while it is scary to become a parent...we are looking forward to it and are more excited by it more than any other emotion. That's how I know...we're ready to TTC

when I looked at my life and asked myself: "What's missing?" and the first thing that I thought of was "a baby"Chat Icon

of course there are trips I want to go on and house projects and even a pet or two but I'm happy now and I know those things will come with time. The only thing missing in my life is making my little family of 2 with DH a family of three (or more!)Chat Icon

i agree, when the time comes and you are faced with it - you will be ready (you have no choice Chat Icon )

we just kind of decided to start trying, we knew we wanted to be parents. there wasnt really any long conversation or a ton of thought about it. i guess we just thought it would take a while and we would have time to talk about it and get used to the idea. well, we got pregnant the first month TTC and i was scared. i never really let myself think about it the entire pregnancy. of course we were so happy and i was thrilled.

as i was laying in a hospital bed in labor and delivery, MINUTES away from meeting my son via c-section, i had a nervous breakdown. the mother in the bed next to me was holding her screaming newborn (about an hour old) and I thought "im not ready, i cant do this, how am i going to do this, what were we thinking?!?!?!" and i lost it, a complete mess hysterically crying. DH thought I was nuts, I just told everyone i was nervous.

as soon as i heard DS cry, that was it. there was no doubt, there were NO questions. its a mommy's instinct and when it happens, you will be ready Chat Icon
