How do you order a sandwich at the deli?

Ok, so I go to this deli near my job every once in a while.

The food there is good and more to the matter at hand, they make a decent sandwich.

That said, just about EVERY time I go there they screw up my order. I don't think what I usually have is very complicated but regardless, they ALWAYS seem to leave something off.

So how do you order a sandwich?

I wanted:

Bologna
Ham
American Cheese
Lettuce
on a Roll with mayo.

I got almost of it save for the lettuce.

I ordered it exactly how I wrote it above.

Am I doing something wrong?? I'd really just love to get my sandwich the way I want it!!

I don't think you are doing anything wrong.. it doesn't seem too complex lol

I thought maybe I'm crazy but I swear EVERY TIME I order this damn sandwich they get it wrong.

And to be fair, they're not the only deli to screw it up.

I practically break out into hives when I have to order this sandwich bc no one gets it right!

order the meat first. then when they ask if you want anything on it, say lettuce and mayo.

that's like when I would order my bacon, sunny side up eggs, and cheese sammich and they would always give me scrambled eggs :/

But when I do that they forget the cheese! SMH.

lol! order the meat with the cheese. OR say the meat and say cheese and then theyll have to ask what kind of cheese.

This is what I would say:

I'd like Bologna, Ham and American Cheese on a roll with lettuce and mayo.

I don't think there's a wrong way to order it though...

here's a tip I have found always works:

write down your order/specific instructions & hand it to them.

this is especially good to do if you're ordering more than one sandwich (like if you order a few for your officemates)

I would try ordering it this way:

Ham and cheese on a roll
with bologna lettuce and mayo.

Ham and cheese is a basic sandwich- add bologna then lettuce and mayo...

I think it could work or else they mess it up again.

I don't like mayo on my sandwiches....so I never order it with mayo...but 9 times out of 10...I'll get mayo. Yuck!!

Try this:

Bologna and Ham with American (or Cheese), Lettuce, and Mayo on a roll. Short one word things. I think the American and Cheese is throwing them off.

Oh, and I would say this, "Can I have Bologna, Ham and American Cheese on a roll with lettuce and mayo."

My dad used to own a deli....it's in my blood.

maybe its the Bologna and mayo that is throwing them off...

I have this aversion to bologna and mayo ever since elementary school. One of my classmates used to eat that every day....the bologna was like an inch thick slab and there was Miracle whip on it..,

this is so me too!!! I hate mayo...yet everyone puts it on automatically, even if you say hold!

Same. Or if they don't, they try to talk me into it:

"Are you sure you don't want mayo?"
"Really? Wow"

Umm, just make my sandwich, please.

I get this a lot too. I usually have dry sandwiches. So I'll order say ham & american plain.
Do you want lettuce & tomato? No, plain please.
Mayo? No plain.
Nothing on it? Correct

The way you are ordering is fine.
The guy making the sandwich is just stupid.

Sometimes it's them, not you.
