How do you tip at an all-inclusive resort?
How are you supposed to tip at an all inclusive resort? Do you tip at every meal and drink? Do you tip at the buffet?
Is there a recommended tip like on a cruise?
I've never stayed at an all inclusive resort before. We will be staying at Majestic Elegance in the Dominican Republic.

Re: How do you tip at an all-inclusive resort?
Driver to and from the hotel: $5-10
Person who carries your luggage and takes you to your room: $5
Maid: $5-10 each day
Mini-bar person: $2 per day
Room Service: $5
Drinks: $1 per drink
Meals: $5-10 depending on service
Spa: 20% and up, depending on service
Excursions: $10 and up, depending on service
That's all I can think of right now off the top of my head. This is my general rule of thumb, but I always increase/decrease depending on service.

Re: How do you tip at an all-inclusive resort?
First of all, you definitely don't HAVE to tip at an AI. (especiallly one that says gratuities included, I stayed at Majestic and they do include them)
We bring about $200 in singles and tip only for excellent service.
We usually give the maid $2/day.
At bars, we only tip if we get excellent service.
Cocktail waitresses usually get $1 so that they come back.
Buffets, rarely tip unless someone does something extraordinary.
$2-3 at a specialty restaurant.
Bell boy, a few bucks for bringing our bags up to our room.
You'll notice you are in the minority if you tip, there are lots of Europeans there that never tip, and alot of Americans that go with the "gratuities included" concept. We do NOT tip as much as we do here (15-20%) because it isn't necessary.

I completely agree with this. When Dh & I stayed AI, we were told upon check-in that tipping was included with our stay. We did tip the bartenders, bellboy & maid. The bartenders would have our drinks ready before we asked for them and since we had a pool bar and were smoking, they would have ashtrays and papertowels for us to dry our hands ready all the time. It was great adn really showed that most ppl don't tip.
