Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
He starts to get restless.
The minute they start touching him it gets bad. He starts whining. He pushes the stetoscope away.
The poor pulmonologist. EJ smiles at him at 1st then it's over. I have to carry him, feed him. He throws his pacifer across the room. It's bad!
The assistant wanted to take hold his oxygen level. OMG, she held his hand with the cable. He screamed bloody murder. He hates being restrained in anyway.
They used the "straight" jacket to take his bloodwork.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
For now, he loves it - he is only 7 months though. He smiles and laughs with the doctor and she always says he is such a happy baby that she feels bad that she has to give him shots. However, when she checks his ears, which has been about once a week b/c he is sick he freaks out.

Jacob is actually really good at the doctor's office. He was horrible when he was first born but as he got older, he got a lot better.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
I was actually surprised at how good she was at her last ped visit. She was babbling and playing nice, having a good time. Of course she doesn't like her shots or things stuck in her ears...but all in all...she was pretty happy last time.

Because Jack completely loses it.
Our ped actually named him "CryBaby Centonze"
The SECOND I get him undressed he starts whimpering. Once he gets on the scale to get weighed - it's all over. Screaming, crying - on the top of his lungs. Bright red. It's awful.
I get if he was just crying after the shots - but it's basically the second we get into an exam room.
Is there anything I can do to make this more pleasant? His aunt (who he loves) even works there - and he still doesn't care.
Everything you wrote, DS does! I even try bringing in books, but, DS is NOT having it.
Okay, Paige was like this also but for some reason the last visit she was awesome. the nurse and teh doctor tried to distract her by showing her the ear thingy and things like that. She liked it and made the visit a lot better. Paige would start crying the moment the nurse called us in the back.
I actually took her to the fill in doctor not to long ago and she was screaming so bad that she was sobbing. She wasnt feeling well and since it wasnt her usual doctor she freaked.
Maybe start talking to him (because im sure he understands) ask the doc to show him things. Even when DD got the shot itself she only wimpered it was so surprising.

Luka is fine up until the examing room...then forget. He screams and it is amazing that the dr. is able to exam him at all. D is fine except she dosn't like to be confined to the table.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
Both of them went through the screaming crying phase at the doc as soon as someone looked at them in scrubs or a white coat they lost it.
Now, they are fine until the shots. The doc lets them hold instruments, and the stethocope, tongue depressers, they love it of course until the needle comes out. But they are okay with the finger prick blood tests, go figure!

She does great, we went yesterday and she's fine.
I think after her 3 year well visit things might change because of shots and her age but we'll see!

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
He is pretty good. Luckily I figured out when to go when it is less crowded and we go right in.
And in the exam room I bring crayons so he can color on the paper. And give him those little cups to drink out of. Keeps him occupied for some time

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
He cries once I put him on the scale and he sees the nurse... I think its more because he doesnt like strangers coming close to him.
He sits/lays on my lap when the doctor examines him

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
He is good unless he is sick. He has a blast ripping up the paper on the exam table. He is even good w/ shots. He cries when it is over and they are putting the bandaid on. He cries for 1 min then stops.

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
HORRIBLE. Even when we go with DS and she isn't even being seen as soon as the doctor walks in she loses it. I can never ask any questions because she is hysterical. I swear it's a good thing he takes my word for her progress and doesn't try to see for himself because he would think she doesn't do anything but scream!

That's usually my reaction once I step on a scale as well...

Re: How is your child at the ped's office?
Very uneasy when a nurse or doctor comes towards her. If I can hold her for part of it, she's better, but she's not a happy camper when laying on the table.
