Re: How much did you pay for your house?

I assume you meant <$300,000 for the first option.

We bought ours at the market low, 15 years ago, so it was under $150k. Before our reno 3 years ago, it was worth at least double that.

Re: How much did you pay for your house?

i didn't vote b/c i'm out of state....but we paid less than 200k in FL for a 4bed, 3full bath, 2 car garage townhouse, approx 2300 sq feet - only drawback to me is we have a very small outdoor space and no yard but its not too bad b/c that = no maintenance for us and we have a community pool and the beach is really close...if we stayed in NY i can't imagine how much we woud have paid for the same house Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i give you all a lot of credit Chat Icon i couldn't stomach paying those prices for aChat Icon

Re: How much did you pay for your house?

$415k in Seaford (2007) for 40x100 postage stamp piece of property. We've since finished our basement and gutted our kitchen, so I'm hopeful we've maintained the value of the house despite the economy.

We bout a new construction 2 family in Fresh Measows in 2007. Our house just appraised for over 100,000 more than what we paid for it -- real estate values have really held their won in Queens.

just bought a house in Levittown (Island trees SD) for $365,000- 3 BRs, 2 full baths, living room, den, office, garage, IGP. I think we got a fair price

I just saw the gorgeous pics!! Congrats! Great interest rate too, just curious - is your loan an FHA loan? DH and I are looking to buy a home too and are keeping Levittown open as one of our options - we were told that many banks aren't doing loans over 300K or 400K unless the borrowers are putting down more than 3.5%..So I am wondering if you experienced any problems with mortgage pre-approval?

We just took out an FHA loan for well over $400k - the max is $725K.

Re: How much did you pay for your house?

We paid in the low $300s in early 2008 for our home in Amity Harbor.

3 bedrooms, living room, large EIK, 1 bathroom, detached garage, basement, large fenced in backyard + deck.

We are in the Copiague SD but live below Merrick Rd, near the water and within walking distance of Tanner Park.

I am sure now we could get a lot more house for our money, in a better SD but it is what it is.

Re: How much did you pay for your house?

We purchased our home in July 2009. We live in Smithtown on a little over 1/2 an acre. Our home is a 4 bedroom, 1 full bath, 1.5 car garage, basement in Smithtown SD for $400,00.

It was a for sale by owner. She originally wanted $535,000 Chat Icon We feel that for the area and property size we got a great deal but for the condition of the home (termite damage) we over paid. However, we basically gutted the inside and made it to our liking!

We live in Chesapeake VA. We paid $330K for 2400 sq, 3 bedroom, bonus room & 2 car garage. We bought before the market crashed so now the houses are selling for $260K. So we are stuck here for awhile.
