Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
I have 2 sons. Robbie is 7 and Noah is 5.
I PLANNED on spending $200 each.
We have already spent about $350 each.. but I think we are done. There are still things we want to get for them.. but they will need to hold until the next gift buying occassion!
I should mention that although it SOUNDS like a lot - you would probably be surprised at how few things they actually are getting under the tree! Things are expensive!
I should learn though... they have a sick amount of toys and honestly play with the same 2-3 things most of the time! They have a few gifts from last year that they haven't even TOUCHED!
ETA: I should add that we don't have a big family and the bulk of their gifts will come from us.

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
WOW...we spend too much. I'm a big time sucker for Christmas and I enjoy giving gifts so much and My son really doesnt get spolied by anyone else like grandparents, mostly he gets clothes from family. But I always spend more then I should and I KNOW it. I hope to do better this yr.
So far we have spent $120 I have a few more on my want to get list. I will guess I will spend another $150-$175?
What adds up is tax, shipping if online etc.
He will be almost 19 months at Christmas.

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
Wow...I guess we go overboard too. I would say about $500 each or more. It seems like we are suckers for Christmas too. I don't really buy them gifts through out the year though. Clothes and stuff but not really toys.
My mom always went overboard with us so I guess I am just following tradition. I remember when I was younger not being able to get into the living room because it was covered with gifts waiting to be opened and it was a decent size living room.
I think about it and if I only spend $100 to $150 Kara will probably just get a play kitchen and Nikolas one or 2 video games. That just doesn't seem fun to me. I guess I'm spoiled
adding Nikolas is 8 and Kara is will be 23 months exactly

LOL...I know. It's funny I said to my mother the other day. Kara is only getting one gift this year and she looked at me like I was nuts. She's like what kind of Christmas is that. You never had a Christmas like that and it's true.
The first time my DH\boyfriend at the time came to my house. He was amazed after my son went to sleep and I started pulling gifts out to go under the tree for the next morning. He had to take a pic to show his family. His jaw was dropped. Now he is just as bad as me.
You know what's worse. Nikolas goes to his dad's side of the family and gets a million gifts there too.

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
So far, I plan to give him a gift for every night of Hanukah. When he is older, they will be bigger gifts and he might have Santa Claus, as I did. For now, it is more about unwrapping and he would be thrilled if he unwrapped a sock. I am buying what I feel he would like but it's not going to matter if one night it is a $3-$5 gift. I just bought him a huge set of blocks and I could have put it away for the holidays but I felt he needed it to round out his toy collection now . The holiday total will probably be over $100 but for all I know it could end up as high as $900. I just don't know if the high $ toys are the best for right now.

I don't think either of you are going 'overboard'! I think it's awesome! If I had the money I would spend a ton more on the boys! If there is a time to splurge on your kids - Christmas would be it for those that celebrate it!

I would say about $200. But I know if I actually went and added it all up at once, it would be closer to $300-400. Yes, I like to live in denial.

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
waaay too much this year-DD will be 18 months and doesn't have lots of toys right now so i admit i am going crazy- probably a little over 300.00. i know she won't remember or anything but i'm excited to finally have some good toys around here!
edited to add that my DH was out of work and i was on maternity leave so for months and months we bought NOTHING for DD-hence the extra $$ for this.

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
Something usually dictates our budget (aside from finances that is). Some years noone really wants anything specific so we just set an amount and that's what we stick to. Our kids are yours, mine, and ours so the yours and mine tend to make out like bandits really.
This year 2 of the girls wanted an IPOD TOUCH so that kind of dictated the budget for each kid....that is all they are getting. One of the girls is getting a puppy, which is more than what is budgeted but it will really be a family pet too so that's how we figured it....and all in all we got an awesome price on the pup....
We usually just go with the flow....we definitely dont go overboard. The younger they are the "more" they want...they want more presents to open...KWIM?

I really don't keep track. Probably too much but I'm a sucker for Christmas and opening present Christmas morning. We don't overextend ourselves so I think that's what is really important. Spend what you are comfortable with and can afford.
I totally agree with this

I think I went overboard on DD. But she doesn't really get a lot of gifts from family, so Dh and I tend to buy a lot. We did for her birthday too.

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
Honestly I never add it all up. I stocked up on a TON of toys at the 75% off sale at Target. I got $800 worth of toys for $200. So they will get those and a few other things I've bought here and there.
Nicholas is also getting a Nintendo DS and that's about $130. As against the darn video games as I am, he has worked really hard in school and he really wants one to replace his aging gameboy.
My family doesn't buy my children gifts though. Well, with the exception of my sister. If they did, I wouldn't get them as much.

Mine are 3 and 5. We'll spend around $350 for each when all is said and done.
My family always chips in to give them a "big" gift, abut they have *everything* , so I'm asking for cash for their college funds. I'm sure my mom and sibs will still get them a little something to open.
They'll get plenty of things from mommy and daddy and Santa.

No budget. I want to get DD a nice play kitchen and some other items. I tend to go overboard, and she doesn't really know what's going on at this age, so I'm going to keep that in mind this year!

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
DD is 8, probably since she was 4 or 5 and we spend a couple hundred dollars on her, id say in the 2-600 range depending on my financial status that year. DS is 15 months and i wont be spending too much money on him this year- he has a ton of toys and clothes & he really has no idea what is goign on yet. Id rather spend the money when he gets a little older. Im telling relatives to get savings bonds and one small gift. Christmas can be overwhelming at his age.

Around $300-$400. Now that he is getting older it is getting more exciting. I really bought most of the toys for me to play with
DH and I do not and have really never exchanged. We rather spend it all on Andrew.

About $250 but I set the items first...the budget later. I knew what I wanted to get him and went from there. Try to take advantage of sales but DS is the one person on my list that I did not cut back on this year.
ETA: DS will be just shy of 19 months at Christmas

I haven't added it up. She gets a ton from family members. And bonds too.
Maybe $200?

Re: How much $ do you plan on spending on each DC for the holidays and how old are they?
I went overboard, Not sure how much I spent, but I just buy things when I see them on sale. He got TJ Bearytales for $10.00 wahoo. I buy more, because DS will only get gifts from my DH family. My family does not celebrate holidays, so we like to fill the gap, and he is my only little boy, I didn't celebrate holidays when I was young...so maybe I am just making it up to myself through him! HA!
